For all you book nerds out there like myself...
I am reading a book called Glass castle by Jeannette Walls. It is about a family who ends up losing everything and ends up living on the streets. It is really good.

Hmm I thought we already had a thread for this but it seems to have disappeared I don't read books very often but the last book I read was 'Mother Likes Making Dolls' by Nancy Phipps (Jill Phipps' mother) It was quite a good read but the ending was a bit unbelievable IMO

I checked around but I did not see anything??? Hmm I'm not sure where you can buy it. I bought it at the AR gathering and it was advertised in the vegan society magazine a while ago. I'll see if I can find the ad. Its about a young woman who is concerned about her brother. He's engaged to this girl who is not all she seems. The story has supernatural elements.

It seems that Nancy published the book herself so it can only be purchased by sending a cheque for £8 to Phipps fund for animals, PO box 3605, Coventry CV1 3WS.
The blurb in the ad is a bit more descriptive than mine ;D It says: As children, Sarah and her brother Jonathan have an alarming experience with a strange old lady, Mrs Trelawny, who lives in a cottage in the woods. Many years later, Jonathan is seduced by a mysterious woman called Claire, who moves them into the same cottage. Sinister incidents cause Sarah to fear what may be to come. Then she meets Rebecca, who has a similar story to tell about her father. Who is Claire and what is her fascination with collecting dolls? What is so eerie about the cottage in the woods? Will they manage to escape from the malevolent evil forces that seem to be closing in on them?
A spine-chilling story of pure horror! Read it if you dare.

I finished reading Malika Oufkir's biography "stolen lives" in which she tells her youth, how she got adopted by morroco's king at age 5 & lived in palaces for 11 years, to be as a sister to the princess. She was educated as a royal, she was treated both with kindess & sever punishments if she'd be too mischevious... She lead a luxirious life including travels and reading as many books as she wanted, she couldn't resign to forget her family and lose her idtentity, like the other women in the royal harem. At age 16, she was granted to go back to live with her family & could profit from a normal life for barely 2 years. Her father - general Oufkir - grew in power & importance in the kingdom, but, fed of corrpution, he attempted a coup, in 1972. As a punishment, he got shot & Malika along with her Mother & siblings and 2 close friends who wanted to accompany her, they were all sent to various prisons, secluded in the desert for months & years at a time, in sever conditions of malnutrition & abuse. Their release didn't come until 1996, after a very long series of adventures, in which the family tried best as they could to stay in touch with one antoher in the cels. Malika had become their mother, teacher & storyteller, to pass the time with which she lost her grip, once out.
I'm currently reading the second part " Freedom, the story of my life" , which starts with a long introduction & then, recap of facts, but adds new comments.
Will let ya know once am done reading.

I'm the opposite. I can watch/read about zombies, monsters, vampires etc without being scared as I know those things are not real but ghosts are scarier to me because they exist. I'm still fascinated by them but I steer clear if I'm in the house alone

haha well, even if I know that what I see isn't real, I'm too sensitve to see it, makes me sick so I just don't watch... *gathers puffin, maya, maisie, 2 friends & my wife, in front of a horror movie & goes to fix a delicious meal* I'm the opposite. Finished the Da vinci code on monday, i enjoyed it but it did drag on a bit at times.
I just read Tell No One by Harlan Coben Read it in a day and it is worth a read if you want something simple to read but still has some action and a twist or two.
