Meeow. My mum, or as I call her to my other feline friends behind her back my slave said I could join today as I kept jumping on her lap to see what she was doing. I thought a PC was just a warm place to sit on, but then she explained to me what it was. Anyway I live with Tiggerwoos and another hooman who has lived here nearly as long as me and they're very nice to me and all the other cats, but I'm the top one as I've lived here the longest. I also have to put up with these big woofy things that wag their tails in my face an this hoppy thing that follows me everywhere. He has the cheek to be the same colour as me.... black and white, but he has big ears that look silly, but don't tell him I said that. I also live with these 3 things in water. My slave (whoops I mean mum) tells me I should not put my paw in the tank. I like eating , drinking water out of anyones cup, not a bowl, sleeping, cuddling up to people and purring. I like to play pouncing games too. Thats my little introduction. My slave.... oops at it again, says she will try and put a picture on my catatar or was that avatar tomorrow, as its not working now, so I can write my paws for thought blog. If you haven't already seen my elegant face it can be found on here so you can put a face to these words. www.everythingvegan.co.uk/myfurbabies.htmMeeow for now Gizmo

Meow everyone, thankyou for welcoming me. Tell Seymour I sent a big slobbery wet kiss back to him and thank him for the karma!
Minuet sounds like fun too. I like her medal.
Can you imagine if all three of us cats were to meet up.......... the consequences would be "CATostrophic!" I am a cat with a witty sense of humor!
Meow for now

Hiya, 21yr old veggie female from west mids here. I'm extrememly against all forms of animal testing and hunting. I've never been on a protest so am looking for people that can help me change that as I don't know where to start and would be too shy to just turn up at something without knowing anyone!
Nice to meet you all ;D

Nice to meet you too peaceandglitter
Welcome to the slightly mad club... LOL I mean to the vegan forum here. As I said in my introduction, AM against all forms of animal abuse as well.
For protests, you might want to wait for another fellow UK person such as Tigger to help, I'm not there myself.

I stumbled upon this site through a Google Search and it looks like a great one!
I'm 19 years old, a vegan (of course) and I'm attending Western Connecticut State University, over here in the US.
I became a vegan the Sunday before last and there's no turning back! ;D

Hi, I had to join this board when I saw the layout. Nice. I am a vegan man with a vegan daughter. I live in Brighton, U.K and work in sound. I have been vegan for fifteen years or so and generally get wound up about the love not being spread to all beings on our planet.
Paul.
P.S Thanks bobbywomble.

hi quincy thanks for joining up glad you made the jump to vegan ;D hope to see some post from you soon where you a veggie before and what made you decide to go vegan cheers bobbywomble Let's see... The "story" begins early last year, when I was beginning to cut down on meat consumption. I was trying to avoid most red meats and I was just becoming disgusted by meat. (my stepfather is on the Atkins diet and cooks a disturbing amount of meat) By the summer, I was toying with the idea of going completely vegetarian, but didn't think about it too seriously. Even though it wasn't official, I had cut down to just fish and turkey for meats. When I went away to college, I decided to give a veggie burger a chance. It tasted really good! I was also disgusted by the piles of chicken, burgers and hot-dogs that were offered each day. So, around mid-September, I suddenly went vegetarian. I soon joined some online communities, made other friends and got more information in the subject area. My main reasons for going vegetarian were health (#1) and ethics (#2) Over time, I began to learn more about animal cruelty and how the environment is seriously impacted in a negative way by eating meat. Part of me wanted to go vegan, but I kept saying that it was not a realistic choice. Why would I say that? Probably because I live on campus and they don't offer too many vegan options and also, it would be easier at home and when I go out to eat. A few weeks ago, I was doing some moderately-extensive research on veganism...I quickly found a BUNCH of vegan recipes that not only sounded very yummy, but nutritious as well. When I came back for Spring Break, my mother took me shopping to pick up some food. Even though I was not officially vegan, I decided to only pick out vegan-friendly foods and try out some of the recipes. Later that night, even though it wasn't the main reason why I finally went vegan, I know that one of my friends and I were talking about the subject. All I remember saying at one point was, "that just inspires me even more to go completely vegan and never turn back." The next morning, I officially went vegan. There are only two things that have bothered me much at all so far: 1. Honey - I found out that most of the cereals and almost all of the breads/bagels here at school contain (or may contain) honey. I almost succombed to eating honey, but I'm glad that I made the choice not to. 2. Technically, I guess I am a dietary vegan. I own some shoes with leather and do have a few other leather, silk and wool items. I'm a poor college student and I can't go out and buy everything new. (even though I would really like to) I also just found out that the car my father is proposing to give me, has leather seats and everything... It's a tough decision, but I have to do what is best...if I can't be 100% vegan, but still eat a dietary vegan diet, I will not let it ruin my life. lol. However, it is VERY UNLIKELY that I will EVER buy anymore items for myself that have been manufactured by or using animal products. I'm so glad that I overcame the "veganism is not a realistic choice" excuse!!!

Quincy - you have hit the nail on the head. You are doing what you can, the best you can. Go for it! Ive been vegan for a couple of years and at first I still had a few leather bits and just replaced them when I had the money.
Welcome to EverythingVegan x
