That's ridiculous! My mum was an auxiliary in our local cancer hospital and she's appalled at the way patients are treated these days.

When I had my tongue operated on in September, I was in Hammersmith Hospital, and bearing in mind I could not speak and had to write everything on a bit of paper, the night staff could not read English. I had terrible trouble making them understand. Also the room I was given was dirty - toilet had not been flushed. The gown I was given to go down to theatre had a blood stain on it. I would NEVER go into Hammersmith again. Also I got an infection (surprise, surprise).
By contrast, this hospital stay I have just had was the complete opposite and I have nothing but good things to say about it (Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford).

OMG, that Hammersmith Hospital is awful........ My grandad nearly died from an infection he got there!
That is horiffic about the night staff not speaking English and the bog.......... Ewwww no wonder there is so much MRSA.
As you said Feral nursing standards were so much better in years gone by. My mum used to be a nurse too and there was none of this dirt and infection.
Saucy.............. Where are you......... Go and sort those nurses out in Northampton Hospital..... Please!

Anyone with any sort of tumour would do well to contact the Bristol Cancer Centre. They advocate a vegan diet. And complementary therapies. I was a helper in a support group a few years ago and they were sort of affiliated to the Bristol. This support group had voluntary therapists who had experience in herbalism, homeoppathy, healing, nutrition. And regular guest speakers from the allopathic and complementary medicine fields. There might be other local groups that follow their teachings. www.bristolcancerhelp.org/I've just had a look around their website. They no longer advise a vegan diet but advise people to cut down on meat and dairy. But, ignoring that, their advice is still good. Their recipe book - or at least the one from 15 years ago - has only almost vegan food. The only non-vegan item was ghee (clarified butter) which doesn't create harmful transfats when fried in.

OHhhhhhh thanks. Think I may actually treat her to going on that 5 day retreat. It would probably do her alot of good. Especially seeing as how stressed and worried she is at the mo.
