Hi, sorry just seen this, hope everything goes well will be thinking of you and your mum.
Vit C powder can help so well too but the buffered ones best - easier on the digestion.
Take care both,
Alison x

Thanks Ali and Feral. Off to the Nutricentre later to get loads of that buffered Vit C. Used Ester C on Gizmo when she had a tumor (which is buffered) and it worked wonders. Well, if it can work on c cat, it can work on my mum!
Just got off the phone to her, she had a good sleep in the hospital and is under the knife so to speak at 3pm. Visiting her this evening.

Well, went to see her this evening and she was fast asleep having just got back from the op. Anyway, she woke up and was pretty zonked out and feeling sick, but bless her was rambling on about me bringing her cake!
They gave here an epidural so she couldn't feel her legs and was coughing up blood... hope that was just something like the tubes they put down her throat, but will be back to see her later on today and hopefully she'll be on the mend.

Yes, let us know as soon as there's any news. Your Mum will probably feel poorly for a few days. Are you planning a special treat for her when she's fully recovered? Perhaps a nice day out.

Oh Tigs I got confused with the dates as well. I hope your mum feels better by the time you read this thread. Anasthetic does funny things to your body as well. I do feel for her. It actually really mucks your appetite up as well (this may explain the request for cake). Best wishes to you all. You must be exhausted too, what with the move and all. Much love, Tabs xx

Awwwwww, bless ya, all of ya. Have just come home from the hospital and seen a lovely busy forum and even lovelier wishes for my mum.
Thanks everyone for the support.
Well, she seems to be alot better today, she started eating this evening a little. She must have been hungry as she was saying the hospital food was nice (Gags at the thought of it) and she managed a bit of fruit and is keeping liquids down, whereas this morning she couldn't.
Will definitely be taking her on lots of days out when she recovers. She still has a dead left leg at the mo, so they are keeping a big watch on her, as it should have been back to normal by now, so she's really annoyed she can't get out of bed. That's Mrs Independant for you!
Going back tomorrow to see her, so will pass on all the warm wishes.
On a funny note, as for my Dad, I had to teach him yesterday how to put the ironing board up and down........... He moans about my mum, but it goes to show he couldn't do without her. Just thought that little bit would amuse you. Oh yeah, and the washing machine too, Hee hee!

Glad to hear your wee mum's eating a bit, even if it is hospital food! Hopefully she'll get the feeling back in her leg soon, good to know they're taking notice and keeping an eye on her.
lol @ your dad, what are our parent's generation of men like?!

Well the good news is she is hopefully coming out today or Monday. They are waiting for cultures etc to grow on the tumor they removed to decide whether chemo is necessary or any other treatment. Am really hoping she won't have to have any of that, but most of the patients in her ward that had the same op had to have it.............. Must email my Reiki master to find out where the couch I ordered from her has got to as my mum has asked me to do some Reiki on her.
She has colour in her cheeks now, so I'm hoping she is on the road to recovery.

Tiggs, IF your mother is to be given chemo her body will need all the help it can get to protect itself against chemos harmful effects. You might find this info interesting: Chemotherapy produces excess free radicals in the body. And extra anti-oxidants are needed to clean these up. www.leaonline.com/doi/abs/10.1207/S15327914NC3701_1Vegan omega 3 capsules will help to protect against chemo damage. Studies were done in lab animals - which are completely unreliable with reference to humans - but in vitro studies showed the same results. And studies in humans. ict.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/3/2/98 In this, there is mention of cachexia which, in case you don't know, is weight loss in people with tumours. PUFAs can help to fight this. This one is about the faster recovery of people who have had abdominal operations for cancer. And omega 3s protection of the liver and pancreas. www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/abstract/108563074/ABSTRACT?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0 You'll need to copy and paste this as it's too long to be clickable. See page 13 of the link below. Under Clinical Studies and under PUFAs, Oxidative Stress and Cancer Threapies. PUFAs can help to enhance the tumour fighting effects of chemo. www.thorne.com/pdf/journal/7-1/essential_fatty_acids.pdf Anti-oxidants are needed for chemo patients but also for those taken PUFAs because the PUFAs, whilst enhancing chemo, can cause the production of free radical. Vitamin E is very useful to prevent the oxidation of the PUFAs. I have read somewhere that PUFAs also help with apoptosis or malignant cells. As you will probably know, this is the self-destruction of cells.

Thankyou so much Gliondrach.... It is very useful info.
Will definitely get her loads of stuff with omega oils, antioxidants etc etc.
Am really against her having chemo as I've heard how bad it is and in most cases it just leaves the person in remission if it is successful so there is always a chance of the cancer returning.
I've been doing a lot of reading up about Gerson Therapy for cancer and that makes very interesting reading.
She has a juicer and steamer now... Just wish I lived a bit nearer to make sure she had everything she needed to get her well.
One of my cats had a tumor this year and it was surgically removed. The vet said it could return, so did my research and Gizmo had loads of Ester C and Phytopet immune boost post-op and every now and then she still has a cycle of it, which will hopefully keep her well into old age, as there is no way I would subject any of my animals to chemo or radiotherapy.

Arrrrrrrrgh, my mum has just been on the phone in tears to me saying a nurse went round and asked to look at her wound and then started messing with it with a snotty tissue she had in her hand.
Wrong tablets, snotty tissues........ GRrrrrrrr. There are gonna be some complaints from me tomorrow when she gets out of there.
Not impressed.
