Okay, I've some catching up to do as I've not logged anything since Saturday: Me n LGB had a private Thai Boxing session, which was really good albeit early (9.40 start on a Saturday morning! ). Learned a couple of small but efficient moves to redirect a punch - away from face! Also how to deal effectively with a mad attacker, which, if you could pull it off, would look pretty spectacular (not banking on that yet though, still I'd attempt to run away first!). Took dogs to the woods for a good 1 1/2 hour walk on Sunday. Did Thai Boxing again on Monday. This is a really good class, my fav of the week! ;D Did the usual warm-up: working with partner, one holding partner's leg and walking round, with - obviously! - the person on one foot hopping along, one person on hands and knees, other person doing press ups with feet on other person's back. Then standing shoulder against shoulder, trying to push the other person away, squats, sit-ups, press ups. After that we went sparring. Most of the others were a lot more experienced, which makes it interesting when you have to change partners every round. Sparred with about 5 or 6 people, after which I was knackered! It was such good practice though, the more experienced people were all really good about having a beginner sparring with them, giving tips and not going totally all out (or I would of been floored within the first round! : . I'm not sure how much they were humouring me (I hope not too much!), but I did get a few kicks and punches in every round, was really happy with that! ;D I doubt it I'll ever get to a level where I can do a proper fight, but I get endless motivation from the slightest bit of progress ;D ;D Wednesday: gym. Did a full body workout: leg press, chins, military press, bench, seated row, back extension, rotator cuff exercises. Progressed nicely there too, finally being able to do 2 x 20 with a 1 kgs weight. If you think that that's light, try it - my shoulders were on fire! No exercise besides dog walk today, but thai boxing again tomorrow!!!! ;D ;D

I played badminton and won some games.
Didn't play my best though. Didn't play last week as I had hurt my neck, and so my game was down a bit.

The only exercise I can manage at that time is being forced to walk dogs! Our flat the most feared? Well, after the one across the road, which is the home to the trainer of another thai boxing club, his brother who has just returned from a thai boxing holiday in Thailand and a lodger who also trains and does mighty hard kicks! Speaking of which, went to thai boxing today - boy did I need that after the week from hell at work!! 't Was okay, I've got a lump the size of half a grapefruit on my shin from a couple of previous encounters so I was really careful not to let it clash again. I want to give it time to heal rather than letting it heal halfway and then catching it and being back at square 1 again coz it's bloody painful! We worked in 3's for a bit, doing various combos with a lot of punching this time - which is good for me as I don't think my punches are that hard yet. Then ended up working with this girl who I find hard to work with. She's really nice, but I just feel I can't work well with her. On Sunday there'll be an interclub show (i.e. fights), which will be my first ever - as a spectator mind, I don't think I'll ever reach a level where I'll be able to fight without getting properly roughed up - and I'm sooooo looking forward to it!!! ;D ;D

Just come back from the gym, did a full body workout, minus bench as my shoulder was playing up, consisting of: leg press, chins, military press, (then normally bench press if my shoulder doesn't play up. Did 1 x 6 with O-bar only and decided that it wasn't worth it), seated row, side bends, back extensions and rotator cuffs. After that did 1 hr 15 mins of Body Combat and abs. This Body Combat class is great, if anything because the instructor, Andrea, is totally bonkers and she has me in stitches every time. Besides that she's the best instructor I've ever seen taking any class in a gym. Just chilling for a minute and then it's time for the dogs to have their lunch time tear about, errrr.... walk. I was planning to take Mal out on his own for a bit, just to give him some special time, but it looks like I've got too much on for that to happen (sorry Mal! ).

Hey, am I the only one who keeps track of her exercise here (or the only one who can be bothered? )? Seeing as dog walking was included in the exercise thread, thought I'd update from yesterday. We went for a really nice walk yesterday, through some fields with a little stream running through them. It's doggie heaven and therefore usually jampacked with happy running, playing, swimming dogs and "owners" that are actually dog people. People with dogs on here will recognise the difference between dog people and "people who happen to own a dog" For starters, the poor dogs of the latter aren't let off lead when it's slightly muddy because they will get dirty Hardly any of those yesterday, so we had a nice 1 1/2 hour walk, with dogs flying all over the place and getting suitably covered in mud - Kiera's nickname isn't "Queen of Muck" for nothing! Today we had a very nice morning walk along the river that runs through a nature reserve called Chorlton Water Park. We walked up the one side, crossed the bridge and walk back along the other side There's no motorised traffic, or sheep for that matter, round there so they can all go off and have a good run - and in Kiera's case a paddle in the river. She's such a water baby! Again about 1 1/2 hour later I had 4 very quiet contented dogs in the back of the car on the way back. I just love walking dogs! ;D

Saturday was bench day - end of cycle and got exactly what I wanted - a 45 kg paused bench. It was easy enough, but I couldn't get the 47.5 kg touch and go after. I'll get him soon though, bench is going well. I had to train in the morning saturday, so i'm pleased that the 45 kg was so easy, as i am rubbish at weights in the mornings. Bodyweight seems to have settled back at 54 kg. I really dont like it getting above 55 kg, as its too close to 56 kg, which would put me in a higher weight catagory for lifting, and I would need a much bigger total to qualify for the nationals.
Also on saturday did 30 mins hard CV on x-trainer Dips: 5, 5, 3, 5, 3 - haven't done these for ages and ages, so was struggling with my technique a little. They were all deep though, so not too worried about it. Neutral grip chins: 5, 4, 4, 3, 2 - bit crap, ran out of energy.
Sunday was ANOTHER rest day - sigh. But it was worth is to watch some Thai-boxing at the interclub comp in trafford.
Monday - Another early start for me. I just can't get enough calories in prior to the morning workouts. squats: warm ups with 20, 30, 40, 50kg then 5x5 with 60 kg. 5x5 training is going well on squats. They were good when I got the form right (i.e. no depth problems, would pass in competition). Weight was easy.
Close grip bench: 20 kg and 30 kg warm ups 35 kg: 5 37.5 kg: 4, 3 Need to sort a new bench routine pretty quick
Wide grip pull ups: 3, 3 (pleased with these, they were great) Narrow grip: 3, 3
Abs.....then had to rush back to work.
Got thai boxing tonight at Trafford ;D

Nah, no worries, you had the chance to spar, and I'd spar with anyone who'd spar with me without either punching my lights out the first punch or falls asleep with boredom at my lack of experience

2000km on rower? No way!! That's, like, from Scotland to Cornwall!! Got talked into going to Thai Boxing by LGB (not that that took such great effort!), even tho I've got a lot on. But it was worth it, if only for the "whoa, haven't I been fit and active tonight!" factor We did the usual warm up, then went on to pad work. Some combos went really well, I've now managed to switch legs between left and right body kicks without too many jumps inbetween - and basically letting your opponent know what you're planning to do. Like LGB was saying, a little while ago I was convinced that I'd never be able to do multiple body kicks, and now I'm pretty much doing them all the time (ie. when required, it's not like I'm walking through the office incapacitating people left right and centre : . Hopefully that will be the same with alternating kicks between left and right. Front kicks went well, but we did this one combo: flying/jumping punch, front kick, flying elbow that was way too much of a steep learning curve; went absolute sh!te! But oh well, nevermind, it seems like I'm progressing slowly but surely and that is to me what counts ;D

Good work on the weight loss VBB - that's impressive! Tuesday - Yet another rest day, long day on site in gloucester. Well, guess it wasn't really much of a rest day as I found myself on the end of a shovel backfililng trial pits I'm not sure I got the site supervisors role quite right yet Wednesday - Deadlift day 10 mins CV - warmup. Needed this to loosen up, I was still really sore from squatting monday. 50 kg: 5,unbelted 80 kg: 3 unbelted 90 kg: 2 unbelted 100 kg: 1 106 kg: 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 - pleased with these, the last set was actually the easiest because I got in a better starting position. Platforms: 50 kg: 5 70 kg: 3 80 kg: 3 100 kg: 1 105 kg: 1, 1 - failed a third rep, couldn't even get it off the ground LOL. M15 Muay Thai today
Great class - lots of elbows, clinchwork and front kicks, the three things i'm best at ;D The powerlifting really comes into play in the clinch, my strength is invaluable for throwing people around and keeping the inside grip. Hooks were better than usual today too....although I am still catching them wrong and hurting my wrist more often than I would like. I'm going to have to get wraps.
