Just come across this article and as the article stated, it said, "please crosspost" so feel free to do so.
PLEASE CROSSPOST
Dear friend,
Thanks to your support, the bearskins worn by the Queens guards has come under fire on the front page of the Independent newspaper on Saturday and has prompted much talk about the PETA bearskins campaign and the fight to end the use of real bear skin for the Queens guards ceremonial caps.
We have been making tremendous progress for the bears and are keeping the pressure on the Ministry of Defence to stop perpetuating this shameful slaughter in Canada but we need your help today!
Please take a few minutes of your time today ( Sunday 18th June ) to write a short letter to the editor, thanking him for highlighting this issue, and to also add your support for calling on a 'humane' changing of the guard to be adopted sooner rather than later. Please point out that bears are not 'crops' to be harvested and that the guards could look just as regal without harming a hair on any bears head. Great Britain should be setting an example instead of perpetuating this terrible slaughter.
You can make a difference by responding to these alerts. A letter to the editor is such an important gauge of support for the issue and will bring about even more discussion about this urgent problem.
You can view the article on line here : news.independent.co.uk/environment/article1089675.ece
Facts and points to use for your letter can be found here: www.unbearablecruelty.co.uk
Please send email letters to: letters@independent.co.uk ( no attachments please ) and also don’t forget to include your full street address and daytime telephone number.
We want to encourage the media to print more stories about the bearskins. Most letters to the editors of papers should be less than 150 words. To see PETA’s Guide to Letter Writing, please go to: www.peta.org.uk/alerts/guide.asp
For a complete list of factsheets to help you with your letters, go to: www.peta.org.uk/factsheet/index.asp. These factsheets are not copyrighted and you are welcome to use any of the text in your letters.
If your letter is printed, please let me know! If your letter is posted on-line, please send me a link to it.
Thank you once more for speaking out for the animals, your support is so very appreciated.
