Hey, taken the plunge for a couple of months now; is this the end of my eating out adventures? Can anyone recommend a vegan restaurant in the North of England? Preferrably NE.

Don't know which area you need to find a restaurant in, but have a look here: www.veggieheaven.com/uk/Also, many "normal" restaurants can manage something vegan as long as you tell them what you will or won't eat and phone in advance. Italian places can usually manage bruschetta, pasta in a tomato and veg sauce, maybe cheeseless pizza (check for eggs in pasta, eggs/milk/cheese in bread/pizza bases). Chinese and thai places can usually manage bean curd (tofu), or aubergine in black bean or sweet and sour sauce, with plain rice. Check for fish products or chicken stock. Spring rolls, crispy seaweed without the grated scollop are also possible. Many also do mock meats made from tofu or seitan. Indian places can usually manage poppadoms (mango chutney, onion salad, lime pickle are usually vegan to go with them), onion bhajis (many have egg, though), vegetable biriani (specify no egg!), many other vegetable curries. Some breads may be ok. Check food isn't cooked in ghee. They should be able to use vegetable oil if you request it. Hummous and salad or roasted veg sandwich (no butter/marge), baked potato and beans (no butter/marge), mushroom risotto, are other things that you can get in quite a few places, too.
