had a quick google with no joy
does anyone know what the ingredient is in some glitters, nailvarnishes and lippies that is made from fish scales. i know i only wear veggie make up but was telling a girl at work ad would like the ingredient name to back myself up lol

It's not as common anymore as bismuth oxychloride is cheaper, but pearlescent colours can be derived from fish scales (puke!). It's sometimes referred to as pearlescence (sp?) or pearl essence.
I think pearlessence is it's INCI name as well, which all cosmetics in the EU have to be labelled by either on the packaging or at point of sale.
