mincemeat & apple marziflan
(from a great vegan book meals without squeals!)
ingredients:
pastry: 4oz wholemeal flour 1oz ground almonds 1 1/2 oz marg 1 tsp almond essence 2 tbsp soya milk + 1 tbsp water to mix
filling: 2oz marzipan 8oz mincemeat 1 med cooking apple, peeled, cored and sliced 1 tsp golden syrup 1/2 oz flaked almonds
Method: oven - gas 4/180 degrees mix flour and ground almonds, rub in marg mix in almond essence and enough milk/water mix to bind roll out dough - line a greased 8" flan dish/tin bake blind for 5 mins roll out marzipan to fit base - place in pastry case spread mincemeat over this. arrange apple slices over this in a circle and drizzle with syrup sprinkle with flaked almonds bake for 35mins til apple is tender
Nice with soya ice cream/cream or yoghurt ;D
