Just curious if anyone here has ever tried this. I tried with a friend a couple of years ago (before I became vegan - don't know if this is even vegan friendly, don't see why not) and it didn't go so well. Didn't have many results. I have heard many negative things about it and how it doesn't work. Here's some info from wikipedia, in case some people are not sure of what it is, although I suspect everyone here does. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_candling

My mums had it done and thinks its good, ive never tried it. Think theres beeswax in them so it will be a no go if there is! Il ask at our local therapy salon as they say they dont use anything animal or tested but not sure if it extends to honey/beeswax?

yes your right alsiont, the candles are made of beeswax. My friend offered me a free treatment, but i checked the ingredients of the candles first.
She was supposed to find out if there were non animal candles available, but she's never come back to me (probably pissed off i turned down a free treatment)
however, she says it is fantastic and she has loads of customers who have it done now. So would be good if we could source vegan candles.

The wikipedia article didn't exactly sell the idea to me I'll stick to rolled up tissue after a shower to clean my ears out I think

i poke a tea towel in one ear and pull it through and out the other ear, with a quick side to side motion this serves to clean the ears and polish the brain similtaneously
;D ;D

I didn't even think of it being beeswax and I was so tired when I posted last night that I couldn't be bothered to check. Sorry everyone. I know Pob, leave it to me to put up some negative article. I always suspected, though, that the junk left in there was just the wax and cloth all burnt up. They offer it at an aestheticians office here and it costs something like $75. Whaaaaa?! When I did mine a couple years ago, it cost about $3 per cone I think. For $75 I would want vegan chocolate bars to come out with all the wax and other business.

Hubby brought me home 2 candles yesterday, I didn't even think about the beeswax thing either... though I will use them if my ears block up again, I consider them medicinal wot with my sinuses being so debilitating & aggrivating my migraines.

I've lost enough brainage in my life. Certainly don't need a manky tea towel (what the heck is a tea towel) to make it any worse with side to side swooshing/sweeping.

I think the American term for a tea towel is a dish towel . That's what Wikipedia is telling me, anyway.

Ahh and don't you all call lunch, "tea" or something like that? Back to ear candling - I would love it if someone could get all the water out of my ears from this weekends swimming in the pool. I feel it sloshing around in there.
