GRRR.......... Tiggerwoos is ranting again. I hate articles like this, especially seeing that alternative medicine has done so much for my health and I'm in the process of doing reiki and naturopathy courses myself. I also hate the term: "Complementary Medicine". Holistic or alternative sounds much more professional. The first sounds like it's only doing half a job. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/5007118.stm

Some of the 'scientific' studies they've done on complementary medicine include finding that echinacea is no good for colds and that saw palmetto is no good for prostate trouble. The fools used a very weak formulation of echinacea - so that it wouldn't work, and the patients for the saw palmetto had severe prostate troubles. But saw palmetto is only advised for mild to moderate cases. Even some of these severe cases had some benefit, though. The drug companies are so afraid of losing profits that they commission these fraudulent studies which are really just hatchet jobs.
When a study in the late nineties concluded that 106,000 Americans died in one year due to adverse reactions to properly prescribed medical drugs, another study a couple of years later accused the first study authors of making mistakes, and said that that study couldn't be trusted. This second mob of researchers have close connections with the drug industry. The two senior members of the company who carried out that particular hatchet job used to work for drug companies. They were obviously told to find fault with the first study.
There are lies, damned lies and vivisection.

Yep, you hit the nail right on the head there with that last paragraph Gliondrach. It really annoys me when I hear reports like that. Anyway, on a more positive note, here's a nicer link in the news about alternative therapies today: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/5007802.stm
