Does anyone use a Neti pot for sinus health? They are easy to use once you get used to the technique, and many herbal tinctures (not essential oils though!) may be added to the salty water to help ease various symptoms. Here is a demo on how to use them: www.netipot.org/demo_video.htmIt looks strange and uncomfortable at first glance, but it is definitely a good thing to use considering how much crap there is in the air we breathe nowadays.

Thanks Fauxmage, have found a place in the UK that does them so will be ordering one tomorrow.
Hopefully that should clear up my probs with my sinuses once and for all.
I've been irrigating them with a saline spray, but its only a fine mist that comes out, so probably doesn't do much good.
Has anyone ever used a neti pot? What does it feel like?

The water should be warm, and it shouldn't sting. If it stings, you may have too much salt, or too little, so you will have to experiment until you are adding enough salt but not too much. You might want to hold your breath at first, though with practice you will be able to pour the water in and allow it to flow out while breathing slowly. Good herbal tinctures to add are echinacea, for infections; licorice or mullein, which are mucilaginous and very soothing and protective for irritated membranes; comfrey, for healing. Eucalyptus or peppermint teas are good for stuffiness, but do not try essential oils, unless you have the kind that are approved for internal consumption.

Thanks Fauxmage, will try all those tips. Was using mullein in my ear when the infection was there and it did sooth it. Luckily for me I like peppermint tea, so will start drinking that again. Eucalyptus tea sounds good, will keep an eye out for it. Think I've seen it somewhere before. I've been using olbas oil in boiling water with a towel over my head which does seem to help. I find that central heating really seems to make it worse........ shame its winter, otherwise I'd switch it off, but would freeze otherwise. Will let you know how I get on.

I hope you find relief Tiggerwoos. I hate indoor heat too. Fortunately I work out of doors, but when I go into a bank, for instance, I don't know how those people can stand that hot air blowing up their noses! Steaming is a good treatment too. Essential oils are safe when used in steam, too.

Well mine arrived this afternoon, I'd already had my morning dose of sterimar so waited until my snozzle started playing up again. It was grand in a 'don't be silly you're not gonna drown' kinda way lol. The bottle is made so you can remain upright but I managed to get the right tilt so it went up one nostril & out the other. The lukewarm water was surprisingly soothing and no doubt much better for me than the sterimar which is quite cold. Wish I'd discovered this a couple of years ago would have saved me about £18 < a month!

These freak me out! But I'll take your word for it, Feral. I'm fortunate in that I don't really have sinus issues, but if I did, I think I would try this to see how I liked it. Co uld you please post pics? ;D
