The aim of CALF ACTION WEEK is to lobby the government and farming industry into following humane and sustainable alternatives to this cruel and unnecessary trade.
CIWF's UK CALF ACTION WEEK commences on 12th September in Taunton, Somerset with a photo call outside DEFRA's regional office and the week will end with an eight-hour vigil in Dover and online campaign actions to voice our concerns. Please order your CALF ACTION WEEK pack for details of how you can help!
UK Dates
All media photo calls will take place between 10.30am – 12.30pm outside DEFRA's regional offices in the following towns:
Tuesday 12 September Taunton, Somerset
Wednesday 13 September Leicester, Leicestershire
Thursday 14 September Chelmsford, Essex
Friday 15 September Reigate, Surrey
Saturday 16 September Eastern Docks Roundabout, Dover , Kent (10am – 6pm)
Please contact Eloise Shavelar on 01730 236 120 if you would like to join us on any of these events or would like more information.
CIWF needs supporters to take action to end the live export trade in calves. A simple and effective way to do this is by writing letters and sending our calves e-card.
We urge you to contact to your local MP and MPs you know are sympathetic to animal welfare issues (who have signed the EDM) and request that he/she also writes to the NFU.
We have compiled a letter template as a guideline, although we do advise you write in your own style. Please ensure that all correspondence is polite and to the point.
Click on the link(s) below to view the sample letters;
* Write to your MP urging him/her to sign a Commons’ motion against calf exports
* Write to Ben Bradshaw, Animal Welfare Minister
* Write to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU)
* The National Farmers' Union represents the farmers and growers of England and Wales. UK Dairy Association
* EU Dairy Associations
* Supporter Letter to the Local Press
Useful and important information that you might like to add to your letter(s) can also be found in sections from DEFRA's press release
