Hi, My son is 8 on the 2nd February and I am doing a party but would really like a few more ideas of what to serve up. I'm doing so far - Onion Bahjis
- Spring rolls
- Crudites and breadsticks with houmous
- Breadrolls with whatever fillings I can come up with
- Rice Crispie cakes
- Buns with various toppings
- Sweetcorn pasta
- Crisps
Can anyone think of anything I can buy and prepare in advance preferably Thanks Denise x

Hiya I was up last night trying to think of what to make for my sons birthday party on sat. It is a joint party so i have encountered a problem already. The little girl eats meat and her mum asked if i would do the food. I said no problem but if she wanted sausage rolls or such like i wasnt going to cook them. She was fine with that but i think i could have said it a bit nice at the time . Anyways your spread sounds great. What about Muffins, flapjacks, some puff pastry tarts with mushrooms, onion and peppers. As you can see i am struggling myself but i think i am going to do the usual sandwich, crisps, carrot sticks, bread sticks, flapjacks and biscuits because my son is only 4 and i have 24 kids to feed. Hope the party goes well

Yes, I forgot, I've ordered some sausage mix so I can do sausage rolls. I've never tried the mix, so I hope it goes down ok. If everyone comes we will have about the same number. I did think about a trail mix too. My two don't like flapjack but I can usually get my choclate muffins in them I guess I can get vegan jelly too. Denise

Mini pizzas always go down well with kids, maybe with sliced veggie-sausages on them so the omni kids won't notice the soya-cheese so much. But, yes, cupcakes are essential. Bet you £10 none of the omni kids touch the crudites.

Lol, can't accept that bet as I know you're right (wont do too many, hate seeing wasted stuff) I tried pizzas on my lot and the soya cheese just turned our stomachs, the only one they like is the cream Sheese. ButI think I'm going to try some houmous pizzas. My youngest loves houmous so even when he is going through a 'no to veg' stage I can get that in him Denise

Wish I'd accepted the bet I did a full 2kG pack of carrots and there was one carrot stick left. Anyway it all went pretty well although took me three whole days to make everything. The sausage rolls were really tasty, I did choc chip cookies which I need to print out the recipe for and the mini pizzas went down well. The bhajis didn't move but I tasted one last night and I'm not suprised Not sure what went wrong there. I made a tardis birthday cake, it wasn't until I did the last layer that I realised I'd not been putting enough no egg in the mix, so the cake wasn't tastyalthough the kids seemed to like it. I'll post some pictures one day Denise x

I'm glad to hear the carrots got eaten - maybe there is hope for this generation after all! Sounds like you worked really hard.
