I watched the BBC's countryfile programme yesterday for the first time in ages. There was a feature on the environmental effects of livestock ie greenhouse gases and what could be done. To my amazement (ok, more a sort of weary ennui) even reducing the amount of meat eaten wasn't even suggested. Apart from the bit where the offensive little twerp presenting the feature laughingly asked 'so what can we do, eat less of it?' as if it was the most rediculous suggestion in the world. And part of his 'to camera' was filmed while he was scoffing a steak. Bizarrely, they focused entirely on putting additives in animal food to reduce the amount of methane they produce and developing different strains of grass which would allegedly have the same effect. I kid you not. CF is always anti veggie, I realise why I stopped watching it now. Link to the CF bit on the BBC webby below www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programmes/countryfile/
