Ive been having stomach pains on and off for a few months. I got tested for an ulcer but it came up clear. Ive been doing a bit of self diagnosis (with the help of my friendly neighbourhood Pob) and have all the symptoms for hiatus hernia. Im going to the doctors next week. Of course it may not be that, it may be just stress or something. I have been fine for 2 days but have just eaten a wrap with falafels, hummous and roasted veg and my stomach is AGONY!! Yet the other meals I have had this week have been curry, pie and mash and veg and a couple of sandwiches, so it cant be wheat that aggravates it.
I dont particularly want to take drugs if it is a hernia. I would rather avoid foods that aggravate it. As long as that doesnt include cake, chocolate or alcohol. In which case I would rather put up with the pain.
Any advice?

Go back to the Drs, say 'I've still got stomach pains', take it from there. Come back next week.

If its a digestive problem brown rice or oatmeal can help. Theres a whole chapter in Dr Neal Barnards book 'Foods That Fight Pain' He's a vegan doctor so we know we can trust him. Theres nothing about hernias unfortunately but if it turns out to be something else digestion related I should be able to give you the correct advice. Hope you're feeling better today

Does it happen when you get really hungry and then eat? My hubby suffers from excess stomach acid and he is in terrible pain if he doesn't have medication or leaves it till he is really hungry then eat a large meal.

Get down the docs, order from Sargent Puffin. Hubby used to eat quite a lot and put on quite a few pounds because he was in so much pain when he was hungry. He used to get a burning in his chest to.

He's a vegan doctor so we know we can trust him. You can trust a doctor just because he is Vegan??? I know plenty of vegans i don't trust!!! ;D - just a semi-joke, I know what you mean!

I dont have much trust in doctors, but I really do agree with other here... I would go and say the pain is still there...
Doctors can be good at ruling out anything serious, and getting tests etc...
Maybe try the elimination method to see what foods aggravate it??? - its a slow process, but can be a good way.

Does it happen when you get really hungry and then eat? My hubby suffers from excess stomach acid and he is in terrible pain if he doesn't have medication or leaves it till he is really hungry then eat a large meal. I used to get that before I went vegan. I think it was cheese that caused it in my case, because the last time I had it badly was on a ski trip when the only veggie options were cheese, with extra cheese and cheese on the side. I got some pills from the local pharmacy (for IBS and general digestive complaints) that stopped the pain within minutes. It's obviously not cheese in your case though, Tabs. It's probably jam.
