just curious as to the adverts that appear in the above and who decides what ones appear. Just seen one that was for meat , but another one that was brilliant coz it is one that is helping me with my animal testing essay .
Does google read the board and see what people are interested/writing about or is it just totally random .
Wont say thanks for the meat advert but will for the essay one lol.

Its Google ads so they're automated. The idea is that the software puts up ads that are triggered by words it spots in the forum.
Like any automated system it will go wrong and all it takes is for someone to say they don't agree with eating m*at for the possibility of a m*at advert coming up.
In fact, look at the sudden appearance of ads for advertising services...

Firefox and adblock here too, with filterset-g updater.
I use noscript too so by default all pages are blocked from showing me flash ads or using javascript.
Bring back text only browsers, that's what I say ;D

I haven't seen any pop-up ads either so wasn't even aware people were seeing stuff like this?

my tip is to call it 'flesh' , because people selling bits of flesh like to cloak it in euphymisms in their adverts, so i would assume therefore that 'flesh' isn't likely to be spidered out by google advert-search half as much as a more popular nickname for bits of animal cadavers would be. Activating the taboo-filter for the forum could also be helpful, for example one which changes any mention of 'me4t' to 'bits of cadavers' , or 'flesh', or whatever.... because then all mention of 'me4t' would automatically be removed from the beady eyes of google advertising. I use Firefox, so i don't see any adverts - i hadn't realised that there were any. Google ads are just lame. Robert who has the vegan body building forum implemented them a while back, because he had hoped it might give him a little bit of income to help support the webspace and stuff, but he had much the same trouble that you are. He made great efforts to specifically block a whole horde of anti-vegan adverts because they can be blocked one by one, but it's rather painstaking.... it did result in a dramatic improvement in his google advertising service, though. I certainly couldn't be bothered with them for VegansRock, at any rate.
