On behalf of hopefields animal sanctuary:
We are sorry to let you know that Tesco will be selling the land that Hopefield uses. Tesco have been very generous over the years and have let Hoepfield use the land for free
However despite giving away £20 million to charity each year they have decided that the land must be sold - meaning the owners, Paula and Ernie who are in their 80's, 72 horses and over 100 other animals will have no land. The current lease means that Ernie can stay for 5 years - which isn't a great deal of time and is not guaranteed - it could happen sooner.
Tesco and the estate agent was there yesterday
We have told Tesco that Ernie and Paula create a wonderful community atmosphere as well as a home for animals - If you would like to share this point of view in a positive and polite way with Tesco the CEO of Tesco is aware of the situation
terry.leahy@tesco.com The number is 01992 632222 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Leahy
Pls also contact your local press
This will be all over the papers this week as they have found out and are of course supporting Hoepfield The options would be to raise the funds to buy the land for Hopefield A rich animal lover to buy the land outright Tesco to sell part of the land only - not ideal but better than having no where to go. Ernie and Paula need financial support and help with the animals – so please call or see them if you can spare time for the animals. Their number is 01277 201110
Please let others know incase they can help
