I have only ever seen one live hedgehog my whole life - wandering along the side of a railway line. I've seen quite a few roadkill ones, though, recently

I've seen quite a few dead on the roads recently too. I have seen several alive although not recently. The last live one I saw was probably at least a year ago.

I've never seen a live hedgehog in the wild, but I used to work at a wildlife rescue centre where they had some. I had to put on big thick gloves to pick them up, to stop myself getting pricked .

I love hedgehogs! I took one off of horrible kids in the spring, they were kicking it around like a football little bastards. I had to empty my bag out and use it to pick the poor hedgey up. St tiggys are fantastic, I rang them and they got a volunteer to ring me with advice on what to do until they could collect. It was a youngster, and apparently young ones do venture out in the daytime when they get poorly and disorientated. He was covered in ticks and really wheezy, poor hedgey.

I've noticed since moving to my new house, as it's a village we seem to have an abundance of hedgehogs.
The day before yesterday, I opened the front door in the evening and there was a big old hedgehog by the dustbin, and yesterday night we took the dogs for a walk and a younger one went scurrying more or less past us.
They are soooooooo cute.
That is so awful Lavender what those kids did to the poor hedghog. I only hope they get their comeuppance soon.

I have also never seen a bat. So no wild hedgehogs, no bats and no badgers. I've seen lots of foxes and deer though. Actually, I suspect I might have just seen one fox on a very regular basis.

Did she know it was there? Bats are cool, but they really do skim over your head, if you're out walking near where they are. I've never seen one up close, just silhouetted against the sky as the whizz about. I used to be able to hear them when I was 18 (their lowest pitched noises), but maybe I'm too old now, as I saw loads the other day and didn't hear anything at all.

ROFL at Flap the bat....... We get quite alot in our village, which was really wierd at night initially when we first moved here, but no divebombers!
I've heard of bats finding homes in strange places............ but a bra...... what was the woman thinking of? Kind of cute though, in a bizarre sort of way...... Don't think I'd fancy it though!

My elder sister had bats in her loft when she lived on the isle of Grain (kent) she had pipestrel (I cant spell LOL) bats, She didnt really like it, Id of loved it personally, so she moved. It got a bit hairy in the garden at twilight, but I thought they were gorgeous. They are protected so will stay in that loft until they chose otherwise ;D
