Ok, here's one for ya. What companies do you boycott and why? Whether it's for vegan issues, animal cruelty issues or ethical issues. Was gonna say put pen to paper, but should be put fingers to keyboard and stick 'em down here so other's know companies to avoid. There are a couple of lists in various threads with cosmetics companies to avoid that I've added, but thought this would be more general and useful to everyone.

Do people boycott Chinese goods? I'm in two minds as to whether to or not. They are listed as the worst of the oppressive regimes by Ethical Consumer magazine but I've heard that, unlike South Africa before apartheid, the Chinese people don't support a boycott. Although how anybody can establish that I don't know, presume they haven't asked all of them...
They are also being slagged off for being increasing CO2 producers but the thing is, they are making more CO2 because they are manufacturing more stuff for us in the west. In other words we're just exporting our CO2 production to the Chinese.
I don't know, what to do...

Hmmmmmmmm, good point. I can't really think of anything I do buy that is Chinese...... Not intentionally, but is just how it is.
Only thing is I can say is if in doubt, don't buy it?!

Oh yeah, and I've recently started to boycott Sainsbury's as learnt that Lord Sainsbury is a big funder into animal testing, plus also I've heard he funds into HLS. Nasty nasty man!

Erm Tigs, have to say that probably quite a lot of stuff you buy will be Chinese. Any camping or other outdoor equipment and an awful lot of electronics is made in China. So much manufacturing has moved over there.

Will bear that in mind, thanks Veggie........ Moving house this week and gonna treat us to all new stuff, so will make a point of looking at the nationality of the goods.

I was just thinking about saino's, actually- cos, people say 'ooh, its ok to buy sainsbury's stuff because they're anti animal testing', but, i looked on the back of my conditioner last night and it says " Sainsbury's are against animal testing and fund research into alternatives' ..... Just because they are against something, doesn't necessarily mean that they don't 'grudgingly' do it... ah well, any excuse to shop at Lush :-D I don't buy from Gap or Nike, and look at the label on any clothes i buy- I generally avoid South-East Asian manufacturing- too few human rights... I swear the A2 level geography syllabus is designed to turn all us students into hippies all we do is forest destruction, fair trade....
