news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/north_east/5260334.stmThursday, 17 August 2006 An appeal has been made to find new homes for 21 kittens and cats saved in Aberdeen. Cats Protection said 22 animals were collected from a "cramped and squalid" property. All were extremely thin, several had health problems and one of the kittens died. However, the 21 survivors were nursed back to health, neutered and vaccinated. They have been given temporary accommodation. Muriel Horne, a volunteer with the Aberdeen branch, said: "There was a huge number that needed immediate attention. 'Second chance' "They have all made wonderful progress and are absolutely delightful. "What they need now are loving homes with understanding owners who can offer them a second chance in life." The Scottish SPCA helped Cats Protection take 16 cats to Aberdeen and the remaining five to Kirkintilloch. Tracy Shiells, Cats Protection's regional development manager, said: "We are currently inundated with kittens, owing to the kitten breeding season occurring later than usual this year. "Faced with such pressures, it is a real credit they have managed to provide temporary homes for such a large number of cats." Anyone interested in offering a home to any of the cats can contact Cats Protection's Helpline on 08702 099099.
