I watch a programme on Sky from time to time on one of the documentary channels called Animal Miracles which is about animals who have made a difference to someone's life or saved someone's life. It's based in Canada. Anyway yesterday afternoon I was really moved by the story of Tom the chimp. Basically Tom and 14 other chimps were rescued from a vivisection lab at the end of their working life to retire in peace in a sanctuary away from pain and suffering. As most of you can imagine the chimps were initially very agressive and scared of humans, but over time and loving care, they gradually became more trusting and it showed one in particular called Tom who a worker there became as he quoted "soul mates" with. The man over time, gained Tom the chimp's trust and after a while Tom would come over to hug the man, despite all the abuse he had suffered from humans in the past including being made HIV positive through lab testing and 300 general anaesethics. Anyway towards the end they would drink tea together and it was as if watching them together they were best friends. Was so nice to see a happy ending for lab animals after all the suffering they have been through. Just thought I'd share the story with everyone.

Thanks, Tiggs. And it shows how forgiving other animals can be.
