Have just read this upsetting story about a killer who brutally tortured and murdered a dog.

Dog killer gets 4 months
By SUN ONLINE REPORTER
THE RSPCA today welcomed a four-month prison term imposed on a man who tortured and killed a neighbour’s dog.
Shaun Furgusson, 24, was condemned for carrying out the “sustained, brutal and callous attack” on mongrel Chrissie.
He pleaded guilty to two charges of animal cruelty at Hull Magistrates Court on Tuesday but before he could be sentenced he fled the court.
He was eventually captured and was sentenced today to four months for the cruelty and to an additional two months for fleeing court.
District Judge Helen Cousins told him: “This was a sustained, brutal and callous attack on a defenceless animal.”
The court was told Chrissie was snatched from a neighbour’s garden.
Over three days Furgusson kicked her and threw her at a television set, smashing five of her ribs.
He also cut off one of her ears and repeatedly stabbed her. He then broke one of her legs and bound it with wire. Finally he smashed her teeth and then shattered her skull with a hammer.
Furgusson denied having seen Chrissie when asked about her by owner Tracy Bainbridge.
But he later called her to say he had found the dog in the garden of a derelict house nearby.
Outside court, RSPCA inspector Simon Manning said: “Not only did he torture the dog but he tortured the owner.”
Furgusson pretended to comfort Ms Bainbridge after her loss, but Mr Manning became suspicious when he investigated the dog’s death.
“I found items in his garden that were covered in blood, in particular in his dustbin,” Mr Manning said.
“His kitchen resembled a slaughter house, with blood everywhere.”
Mr Manning said the dog was still alive when her owner found her in the garden next to a blood-stained Union flag. Chrissie later died in her arms.
Mr Manning welcomed today’s sentence and said he was “absolutely delighted” that the maximum sentence had been imposed.
Furgusson, of Wansford Grove, Hull, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a dog between January 27-31 this year and failing to ensure it received proper veterinary treatment.

OK, so he got four months, but that is nothing compared to the loss of a life.
It infuriates me that the life of animals is seen as so inferior and the sentence given is nothing like what would be given to the same crime against a human.
If you look at many famous killers....... Rose West, Ian Huntley etc and countless more, they were all proven to have started off by tormenting animals, then moved on to torturing humans.
Why oh why are these people given such a lenient sentance, then let loose after such a short time to become repeat offenders on animals and the public. It really infuriates me.
The mind boggles.
