What are your views on this? Do any of you have a faith? Different religions take different stances on vegetarianism and veganism, but how do you view it. From Christian to Buddhist......... Jewish to Hindu........ any religion, any comment......... What do you think?

Personally, I am Atheist. And, I mean no offence of those of you who are religious, but I actually do have a strong hate for religion. The believing in god/ a messiah/etc and following a book ones, mainly.
It just annoys me how people choose to live their life by a book that was written by several different people (Bible). And that says incest is ok, but being gay is wrong, that being jealous is wrong yet the person who told you that admitted to being a "jealous god" so you shouldn't worship other gods. It's just full of too many fairy tales and contradictions for my liking. And people use it to back up one thing, and others use it to back the opposite. I.e. Omni's use it to back up meat-eating, Veggies/Vegans use it to back up NOT eating meat n' such.
Also the fact that people believe in a being that hasn't been proven. Yet alot of actual things have been proven by science.
As well as all this, you shouldn't have to be told what's good and what's bad. And who to like and who not to like. It should come from common sense. I know some people need a helping hand/guidance sort of thing, but I'd rather they seek it from a real being, and not some bunch of fairy tales.
AND, yes there's more, a lot of disputes, wars, terrorist attacks, etc, boil down to religion. Religion causes hatred, it causes women to be put lower in the hierachy - stay at home, can't work, can't go to the church/mosque/wtv, no women priests, etc. Same goes to gay priests. It breaks up people into groups and some of those "groups" get ridiculed and tormented just because some book or person says they're wrong or "un-natural" for being different.
Also, some crimes, whether animal related or not - the criminals use the excuse "god told me to". ¬_¬
I just think the world would be better off without religion.
Sorry if I offended anyone, though. Turned into a bit of a rant, it did. :S

I am a Christian (although not a practising one. I believe there is a God, but am not really a religious person by nature) and I do see a lot of sense in what you are saying Chenli. Particularly the part where you say about the disputes, wars, terrorist attacks being down to religion, and I feel it is the root of alot of evil, and is also an excuse for some scumbags to be violent...... Some people don't need any excuse to insite violence, but it is sad when religion is supposed to be peaceful and loving, yet it has caused war, hatred and violence throughout the world.
On the veggie/veganism part, the bible does contradict itself quite a bit.
For example at the start of the bible Adam and Eve only ate fruit from the Garden Of Eden, The Ten Commandments says "thou shalt not kill", yet later on in the bible sacrifices of animals are made and Jesus feeds the five thousand with loaves and fishes.
All a bit odd if you ask me.
