I think you are supposed to let them flower, then remove most of the flower heads, leaving a few to seed. umm asparagus.? dunno ;D

I've been picking them off the flowers and putting them in the crass cutting bin because I don't know of any reasonable vegan way of getting rid of them. I'm plauged by whitefly this year too... have to try the garlic water spray before they kill the whole garden I'm fed up with the weather, I spent the good weather making our garden beautiful this year then went to Dublin, spent two sunny weeks in bed when we got home and the day I was well enough to get out of bed the rain started and it's be grey and cold every day since . We go to Cumbria in Sept too so won't see much of the garden that month either... I wonder why I bother some times

i have done alot on my garden to make it more managable this year, but i still struggle. most nights when i get home its dark/dusk and i spend most of the weekends away so it makes it difficult. and also means i get little time to enjot it.
but some of the best days of the summer have been spent in my garden, and some of the best food i have eaten this year has come form my garden. So for that i think it's worth it ;D
