Ms Limester, hows the raw weekend going? Mine's going well, although woke up with a horrid horrid taste in my mouth and had a headache, but that's gone now. Will post my days food intake tonight at the end of the day.

Totally raw hummus made from sprouted chickpeas, raw ground sesame seeds, and olive oil. This is the basic unseasoned recipe -- you can take it in a lot of different directions. Gently warmed by the action of your food processor, it's best eaten fresh, but will keep for up to a week in the refrigerator.
Ingredients 2 cups raw chickpeas (sprouted) 2 tbsp tahini, raw 1 tbsp olive oil 1/4 tsp salt Directions
1. Take 3/4 cup of dry chickpeas and soak them for about 36 hours, changing the soaking water every 8 hours. Then drain thoroughly and sprout for 2-3 days, or until the chickpeas have 1/4" tails. Chickpeas tend to mold and ferment easily, so it's important to rinse and rain very thoroughly.
2. Put the sprouted chickpeas in a food processor along with the olive oil. Grind the mixture into a smooth paste.
3. Add the tahini and salt. Blend thoroughly.
4. Add more olive oil and/or water if the mixture is too pasty. If it's too liquid, add more tahini.
5. Blend in seasonings -- whatever you like! Fresh basil, sundried tomatoes, red peppers, dehydrated eggplant... all good.

You lot have me interested in this raw malarky now. What are the benefits? Is it like a detox? I couldn't do a detox with me lurgy but perhaps a couple of days of raw foods might be ok for me to try. Only problem though, I can't eat much fruit because the sugar agrivates me yeast overload. Oh yeah I remembered this site gliving.tv/greenchefs/deliciouslyraw/ which has some raw recepies you might use.

Thanks for the link Feral. From what I've read up, alot of people have been cured from your lurgy with a raw diet. Basically all the enzymes still present in living foods heal you. Here's a couple of links that will explain it more. I'm on to my 4th day and I feel so much better. www.alissacohen.com/and this one, Shazzie who had many similar problems to you and is now probably one of the fittest people around. www.shazzie.com/raw/journal/

Thanks tiggs I'll try and make my way though those to see if I can pick up any useful tips... have to try something to get me out of this latest relapse.
Does anyone think that even just making one meal a day lunch would benefit? I think I could do it with my lunch each day but don't think I could with all meals with me not being able to tolerate much fruit and being allergic to peppers.
I'd be wary of putting my body through too much too soon as well incase it gives me a more severe relapse.
Think I'll maybe try and get lunch recepies and try out some of the pudding ones too.

Tiggs, how are you doing on the detox front? For myself, if I went more than a weekend, I would be afraid of what my own detox symptoms would be and the extent of them. What if I was too sick to work? I just get worried about that.
I know Shark is taking his raw foods into this week as much as he can and I think he's ok on the detox front right now.

Alot of people have gradually made the transition Feral, and some have gone the whole way. It all depends on the individual.
I haven't had many detox symptoms, apart from spots (but have been saunaing every day so that probably has dragged the out) although am really craving something heavier and gunky so am hoping this dehydrator will arrive today or tomorrow and my raw oats so I can start doing muesli, enchiladas, tacos, chillis etc etc, as salad style stuff can get a bit monotonous.
I have discovered "Nakd" bars which are really nutritious raw food bars you can actually get in Sainsburys.
The biggest downside is the cost of it basically, but will probably go to the pick your own store this afternoon and get some bits and bobs as that is so much cheaper.

Now that sounds nice. Will give that a go. BTW, have heard of tahini. Where do you get it as haven't seen it anywhere? I was making one of my "hit and miss" soups the other week and put tahini in with all the veggies, garlic etc. It was really delicious. Really made the soup taste special.

Hi, im back on the forum. Did you miss me? I have been on a water fast for the last twelve days and ive lost 4 and a half inches from my waist already. Its not as hard as it sounds! Anyway after this im going to go 90 percent raw with my husband. We are going to have one day a week that is our non raw day and that is every saturday. Cant wait

Cool Lydia, what brought this on? Have you been wanting to go raw for awhile? Oh and welcome back and congrats on the inches lost! I think I picked them up from you! It was always our plan to 'eventually' go raw but you know its hard. I guess lately its felt like its about time 'eventually' was here! So ive still got 17 days on my fast, then im going to have 15 days of juice and then 34 days of raw food before i start my non-raw saturdays. I just bought a brand new blender and a new set of tupperware to take all my nice salads and things to college. Does anyone know if food steamers keep in all the good stuff in food? Or is it a waste of money?
