SkySports regularly broadcast races and thus contribute to the profits of the industry.

Please write to Sky Sports and inform them of the suffering inflicted upon greyhounds by individuals within the racing industry. Ask them politely to consider whether they wish to be associated with such an industry and if they would contemplate withdrawing broadcasting races from their programming. A sample text is below:

Dear Ms Ashworth,
I would like to draw your attention to the gross cruelty inflicted upon the dogs involved in the greyhound racing industry.
The biggest problem with the industry is that too many dogs are bred and 'disappear' at the end of their racing lives. At least 10,000 dogs aged between 2 and 5 years retire from racing every year and at least 2000 young dogs annually fail to make the grade as racers. Many of these are put down, despite the presence of retirement kennels and having earned their trainers thousands of pounds.
Dogs are also killed by drowning, shooting, poisoning, being set on fire and other barbaric methods. Alternatively, they are simply left to wander. To prevent identification from their ear-tattoos, their ears can be cut off. Mistreatment during their racing lives is also an issue with dogs being kept in cramped and inadequate conditions, having boiling water poured over them or being kicked when they fail to win. Dogs have been left tied up indefinitely, had injuries painted to conceal them from vets and been fed paint stripper.
I'm sure SkySports would not want to be associated with the cruelty ingrained in the industry. I hope that you will consider discontinuing your broadcast of Greyhound racing.
Yours sincerely,
