some more good news : news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/6734091.stmJenners department store will no longer be selling pate de foie gras, following a long campaign highlighting the methods used to produce the delicacy. Erm, just a thought, and I'm ready to be shot down in flames if people think I'm being a little paranoid because that has been suggested before. But it seems to me that we are inadvertantly putting together quite a handy little resource for anybody who fancies going out shopping for foie-gras. Not to mention the effect its having on the ads at the top...

Anyone who wants to buy foie gras could very easily find it through Google. They're hardly likely to search a vegan website for it.

I understand your concerns veggiesosage but I think sluggie is right on this one, and actually that google advertising up the top is a great tool for us to name and shame yet more companies selling foie gras , almost like they are playing right into our hands so to speak lol. I woudl never had thought to look at it but yeah I notice there are loads coming up , will have to check them out too.

FOIE GRAS - THE SOELNT HOTEL The Solent Hotel in Whiteley, Hampshire, UK sell foie gras. SARC have tried to speak to the management about this unethical product, but have only recieved a rather arrogant, and rude response. After hanging up on us, and evicting us from their property, they have made it very clear that they are happy to be involved in an industry critisised by the RSPCA and the British Government. Foie gras is made from the grotesquely enlarged livers of male ducks and geese. The birds are kept in tiny wire cages or packed into sheds. Either pipes are repeatedly shoved down the birds' throats, and up to 4 pounds of grain and fat are pumped into their stomachs two or three times every day, or the birds are made to eat liquid feed that unnaturally expands and distorts the stomach. The pipes puncture many birds' throats, sometimes causing the animals to bleed to death. This cruel procedure causes the birds' livers to become diseased and swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds become too sick to stand up. Foie gras production has been outlawed in the U.K., Germany, the Czech Republic, Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, and Israel but its sale continues due to the Treaty of Rome, which prohibits the obstruction of free trade between EU countries. This is despite DEFRA and the RSPCA calling for a public boycott.
