Yay........ Nice to hear of some good work they are doing. I donate to them every month,but have to admit I don't read their magazine that comes round as much as I should.

Not sure if Greenpeace belong in the animal rights thread, on the whole they don't give a damn about animals, what they care about is filling their coffers.
They skirt the animal rights issues to steer clear of controversy, and use other more effective organisations like Sea Shepherd to try and paint themselves as a modern mainstream organisation.
As for the impact of the animal industry on the environment, there's almost nothing. They spend millions on media stunts and very little changes.
I used to be a member, but they get tonnes of cash, there are other groups that do better work that need money more than they do.
That's not to say that some of the stuff they do isn't good or useful, but they're nowhere near as effective as they ought to be.

The trouble with the big environmental organisations is that they stay slient about the animal rights thing because they don't want to alienate their members, few of which are vegan. As Kevster says, the animal industry has a massive effect on the environment but not a peep from Greenpeace, FoE etc.
