What idiots. Two bad people who probably joined PETA under a guise of animal-lovers just to get close to animals. Doesn't make the whole organisation bad. And so bloody what if they're using Jesus to get their point across. People use religion all the time to help fight their cause. PETA definately aren't the first. ¬_¬

A couple of crazy bible bashers by the sounds of it. People should be able to make up their own minds, although I'm puzzled about why PETA have given body shop an award for being cruelty free AFTER they were took over by L'Oreal and hence now fund animal testing

Personally I don't donate to peta as I'm doubtful about some of their practices myself, I decided to be a friend of ViVa instead as I prefer their methods. I strongly disagree with Peta targeting children with that type of literature, since when does being compassionate towards animals mean you can be cruel to humans? Saying that I think there may be more to these 'Granny's' than meets the eye, perhaps there are larger forces backing their campaign.

Feral - what do you think of the ALF? Just interested.

I don't know a great deal about them tabs, I think they get bad press but I don't believe anything I read in the papers. I believe in positive action but don't believe in violence against any animal even human ones, saying that I wouldn't loose sleep over the death of a vivisectionist. I'm also cautious about releasing lab animals as I would be concerned about the potential for disease outbreak, imagine releasing animals that were being experimented on for SARS etc. I also saw someone mention that if you release say 50 labs animals they're just going to replace them with 50 more, what if some of the released ones have to be destroyed, then more animals are just going to suffer, I'm not saying I wholly agree with the poster but it did give me food for thought. I also think people who release pheasants etc into the wild aren't really doing them any favours, I remember it was done once near where I used to live and for weeks there were dead/half dead birds lying all over the roads.

Because of the amount of trouble I got into in 'another place' for supposedly supporting the ALF I would like to say that, on balance I disagree with their methods and the way they work.
While I think it is theoretically possible to construct a philosophical case that damage to property is justified in order to save lives, once the real and the practical get in the way it all goes pear shaped. Even if you ensure that there are no humans harmed in violent acts, there's always the possibility of animals being hurt and that reduces their moral authority somewhat.
Setting animals free also has its problems as well, as feral says above. So I think that they probably cause as many problems as they try and solve.

You're right about the risk to animals being hurt veggie, a tutor of mine used to fish with a group of friends, animal rights activists burned down the fishing hut without checking inside, the burned to death the stray dog & cat that the fishing group had adopted and were feeding & letting sleep in the shed, my tutor loved animals and was distraught at the death the poor things suffered.

Feral, the ALF would not condone that action you described. Whoever did that was not following ALF guidlines which state "To take all necessary precautions against harming any animal, human and non-human". The ALF are not firebombing terrorists as the media would like everyone to believe. For a better understanding of what they are about please read the ALF credo and mission statement www.animalliberationfront.com

I am sure whoever went out and did this would be mortified that they killed a couple of animals. But I suspect it is the act of arson you do not think the "ALF" wouldn't condone since it is an action site moderators of the "ALF fan club" site you keep linking speak against so often. This sort of talk is an insult an insult to the memory of Barry Horne. Ronnie Lees, one of the founders of the ALF, first action against the vivisection industry was arson on a building. Are you only here to promote that site? You do link it often.

I would never insult the memory of Barry Horne Are you only here to promote that site? You do link it often. Yeah, I go on loads of forums just to promote that site because I'm the one behind it

I think this is going to get heated so I think we need to calm down. And how do you know they didn't? Did this shed have windows? Could they hear the two animals inside making a noise? If they did then they willfully killed these two animals something an animal right activist would NEVER do. I never said you did but when moderators of the site say arson is not an ALF action then they do. I and a few people I know have been banned for asking questions about this very topic. Ask uncomfortable questions you get banned, make racist comments you are invited to make them in the open part of their forum Never said you was behind it but you can't deny you go around posting quotes and referencing the site on this forum and many more. If you take the credo word for word and apply that "logic" the are always speaking of, the ALF would be coming through many activist back doors rescuing the slaves they keep. Think about it. You don't even have a clue about the people who own and run the site.

Grannies against PETA. Even if it's going to be a life long commitment from these misguided grannies, its not going to last long is it

I don't see anything in the credo to suggest that the ALF would take animals from other activists. And lastly , no I don't know the people who own and run the site. I never claimed to. Do you know them? It isn't even relevent anyway. Why are you having a go at everything I say? You remind of someone who got banned from the ARCO forum for a personal vendetta against another member. You have the same writing style. You'll not make any friends going round with that attitude.

If you want to take part and promote a site that tolerates racists then so be it. I for one won't. I think I have made my point on both subjects. The site and the way you treat you dog. I was invited here, I did not come here to have a go at you but if you insist on promoting and quoting that site I will reply why I do not think it is a good idea. Yes I do know who runs and owns the site. Not personally mind. Now can we move on? P.S I will leave the friends bit to your imagination. And I could say you are someone called jc from the Oxkob forum, she is alway comming up with conspiracy theories.
