As most of you are aware the Grand National is a cruel horse racing event with too many horses and too many high jumps as well as the whipping etc, stress and strain put on the horses all in the name of money and betting. Although I did nothing to help this year I fully intend on doing leaflets or something or standing outside bookmakers next year, as will be more organized then, but was saddened to read yet another familiar story today. news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_britain/article356660.ece

It is horrible. 180 is a heck of a lot. I hate seeing them ffall. They fall so awkwardly and it really saddens me to see them doing their best to finish the rest with no rider.

200 is the average number of deaths per annum, I think, due to horse racing. This is another area where the patron of the supposid 'royal Society for Protection Against Cruelty to Animals' makes me very frustrated. She loves horse racing, she used to be seen riding horses (often during hunts - to murder animals!). NB She has just visited Canada, a place many people are boycotting for obvious reasons, she was seen wearing fur! I don't support the rspca, because I fear their patron, probably does represent those that support it! Bring back Henry Salt's SPCA.

Hmmmmmm, had a disagreement with my Dad this afternoon when he was gloating about the money that he had won on the Grand National on Saturday......... not impressed with him. Sometimes wonder if I am actually related to him!
Rainbow, I know what you mean about the RSPCA. I have been disheartened by alot of their attitudes recently and that has shocked me about the patron..... is disgusting. Will be withdrawing my monthly direct debit to them and using the money on another more deserving animal charity.
As I help out at a rabbit rescue sometimes, have noticed how the RSPCA have dumped bunnies on us, not wanting to take them on even when we have been full to bursting, yet they are a registered charity and us a small rescue.
Makes you wonder where the money goes???

I've heard dodgy rumours about where deceased animal remains end up after their death whilst in rspca care, whether true or not I don't know. But I don't trust them.
Why is their patron still allowing bear skins to be used?
Sorry back to the carnage of horse racing.

Horse Racing, never have liked it, just watching those whips go up and down on the horses is enough to sicken me. And what's worst is my dad loves to bet on horse racing. Once got dragged to greyhound racing too...ugh.

Sky news today www.sky.com/skynews/picture_gallery/picture_gallery/0,,30100-1228731,00.html Horse Butt Updated: 14:39, Tue Jul 25 Jockey Paul O'Neill has had to apologise after headbutting his own horse at Stratford on Saturday. The incident was reminiscent of the World Cup final, when Zinedine Zidane butted Marco Matterazzi in the chest.
