Hi
A friend has asked me to mention that there is a big world circus at Marston green which is near to Coventry - Junction 9 of the M42.
There are tigers etc... kept in small cages in poor conditions. Not good.
If anyones free please go along to the demos - only 4 people there Tues night and no one last night.
Afraid thats all the details I have for now. Will post more if i find them..........
Thanks Alison

Wish I was nearer, but over 100 miles away. Maybe if there were more protesters, it would stop people going in to watch it. How long is the circus there for? Any ideas what the circus is called, maybe we could start some sort of petition or campaign if I can get some more info?

Hi No not seen friend at work - we work at different sites and phones are 'checked' so cant ring for info. I think its there over the weekend, sounds awful and upsetting - with the poor creatures in such small cages Will find out which company it is when i next see her - as no doubt it will be on 'tour' prehaps start a petition then? Thanks Alison

Thanks Alison Definitely, and I also like the idea Bobbywomble of writing to the councils that allow this sort of event to be put one. Would be nice if we could go and rescue them, but somehow, I don't fancy going up to a tiger and saying "Here kitty kitty". Don't think they would be as welcoming as my felines. Keep us informed of any news etc Ali and then maybe we can start a petition or something.

Ali, have posted a post on a well known animal rights forum about this cirucs, so maybe this will help with some more protestors. Have also asked if anyone knows the name of this circus.

Been tipped off, could it be this place? www.greatbritishcircus.co.ukWhat the hell is so "great" about the place?...... and after reading the "apology" from the RSPCA inspectors to them I will be withdrawing my monthly £5 donation I previously gave to the RSPCA. Seem to be heading to Birmingham now.

Yes checked today that is the one The tigers have been seen in bad conditions - the staff are not in anyway friendly. There are only a couple of people at the nightly demo or none some nights, my friend is there a lot of the eves/weekends, but i wont see her this week, and cant talk by phone/email about things like this Im sure any support would be very welcome. Just an email I have received today, but if anyone can go along and support this demo, it would be great. Details are as follows: 'Great' British Circus Protest - Sunday 30th April @ 1 p.m. Forest Road, Barkingside (opp, Fairlop Waters) Nearest tube: Fairlop (Turn left on main road in fron of tube station, then a 4 min walk to circus) www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=545250&Y=190750&A=Y&Z=1Martin Lacey threatens to shoot his tigers! Martin Lacey, the owner and ringmaster of the 'Great' British Circus (GBC), has previous experience of shooting animals under his so-called care. In 1999, during a programme broadcast on Channel 4 (Circus Days, Circus Nights), he admitted that he had shot two bears, because of mounting public criticism against them being used in his circus. Now, gun-happy Mr Lacey has threatened to shoot the tigers in the GBC, should there be a ban on circuses keeping wild animals (Daily Mail - March 11 2006). Obviously, this man, who frequently tells his audiences that he loves his animals, and has previously called them his 'special pets', would sooner slaughter them, than put any effort into finding them alternative homes.
