I love cooking and even before I turned vegan I was already making recipes from Vegan With A Vengeance and loving the results! So far I only have that book and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World (great but with US ingredients lists, I can't get my head round cup measurements - ) There seem to be lots of books out there - what are people's favourite books? And have you come across any duds so I know which to avoid? Thanks!

I've only got "Vegan With A Vengeance" so I could do with some tips as well!
I love that it has a great variety of recipes from around the world but still tends to use ingredients that are easily bought without needing to hunt down random specialist shops. Er, having said that though, the only recipe I've tried so far is the one for pancakes...
It's not a vegan book, but I'd recommend "Dough" by Richard Bertinet if you want to bake bread - it's really easy to follow and has loads of different types to try.

The internet is by far the best source of recipes I have found. I've bought a few books but really disappointed in them as most of them heavily use meat replacements. Would still be interested to know if there are any books out there that people use regulary Denise

Vegan with a vengeance is my favourite from the ones I own. But I agree, I like the internet for sourcing recipes, it's much better.
La Dolce Vegan is quite good. A lot of the recipes are ones that were sent to her by friends / fans of previous books
I bought that skinny bitch in the kitch (i dunno why because i didn't think much of the first book) and it wasn't great, far too many 'fake meat' this and 'fake cheese' that.
I want to buy veganomicon but i resent paying £15 or whatever it is going for on amazon!

Haha. I get by! It came out alright, but the mashed banana topping was a bit grim.
I tried to do my parents a completely vegan dinner on Sunday - hampered slightly by my brother insisting he brought some smoked salmon (which he didn't even eat...) I plan on discreetly serving vegan food whenever people come round and see if they notice.... subtle propaganda....

I bought VWAV on Monday, can't wait to start trying stuff. Has anyone made the Raspberry-chocolate chip Blondie Bars yet?
I really enjoy the way she writes and endears herself to the reader. Beats Gordon feckin' Ramsey any day of my week!

Hi DiscoFarmyard! Since we seem to be having a VWaV love-in here, have you seen the Post Punk Kitchen episodes on Google Video yet? They're pretty good too!

I haven't checked her actual programme out yet. I'll let you know what I think as soon as I have a chance. If her presentation is anything like it is in the book I'll love it!

I'm a newbie vegan too - but I think the good ole PPK has made it a real adventure so far trying out all these new recipes. And the other thing that has eased the transition for me is Swedish Glace ice cream with melted Chocoreale hazelnut spread on it (with just a splash of soy milk to turn it into luverly choccy sauce)... omg it is divine! drool...
