Hi right i really need some help around 2 days ago i went out and bought Skinny Bitch (the book) and now i just Carnot look at anything with meat/milk/egg in. Today i did my weekly shop and i thought it would be fine id find loads of things to eat, and i did in a way i came out with £30 worth of cereal bars (over 7 different types) and dried fruit bars. I came out with no meals apart from one bit of pasta (vegan friendly) i am just so stuck and frustrated as i know i wont be able to go back to how i was before and I'm just so disheartened to find there is so little out there for vegans. The other main thing is i Carnot eat salad never really liked it so i Carnot have that as a meal. Does anyone know any meals that don't require allot of cooking or even where i can get anything like vegan food from as I'm on the Isle of Man and i don't know of anywhere.
Sorry about the long thing

Difficult to advise as don't know what you liked to eat before. But here are some ideas
Get some good vegan cookbooks then you can make your own. Try the Vegan Society website as they have a mail order shop.
There are a number of the chilled ready meals that are vegan, you just have to scout thru the ingredients carefull
Try different types of soya milk to find the one you like best. They may take a little getting used to. I've not tried it myself but So Good is the one you'll likely find in supermarkets and its supposed to be pretty good. If you find it try Alpro as well.
If the supermarket has a 'free from' range have a look through that as they often include vegan stuff. Its mostly junk though.
Try the websites for Redwoods and Frys (or Beanies as the company is called) for many vegan delights from sausages to fudge.
We've got numerous threads on here with recipes, reviews of things and links to recipe websites so have a dig around.
If I think up anything else I'll post it up. I'm just off to eat some Fry's Schnitzels ;D

If you have a health food shop near you, you should be able to find plenty of vegan things in the chiller cabinet and freezer. If you're not used to cooking it can take a while to adjust to making your own meals. Some good instant (or nearly instant foods) that you should be able to find in your supermarket are: Bread Houmus Falafels peanut butter and jam baked beans spaghetti hoops tofu Veggie sausages veggie burgers soya yoghurts some breakfast cereals Some of Linda McCartney's frozen stuff is ok - the country pies for instance. samosas vegetable spring rolls soya 'cheese' Always check the ingredients though, as some manufacturers can't seem to resist sticking milk in their products. The best vegan cookbook I have found for beginners is Leah Leneman's "Vegan Cooking For One" - www.amazon.co.uk/Vegan-Cooking-One-Simple-Appetizing/dp/0722539231/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1197331192&sr=8-35It's got really easy recipes in quantities for one person. There's a list of health food shops in the Isle of Man here: www.isleofman.com/directory/directory.asp?Type_Id=303000Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Sainsburys is getting pretty good these days at labelling things vegan. I would definitely shop there! The Co-op does too if you have one near you. I know you said you didnt want to cook very much, but think of curries because although youve got to cook it for a bit you can make loads and either freeze some or eat it a couple of days running. Stir frys are very quick and easy. Spag bol with fake mince (not quorn which is not vegan). There is vegan icecream!!!! - Swedish Glace which you can usually get in Sainsburys and vegan chocolate, although as Pob has just pointed out, if youre reading Skinny Bitch you possibly dont want to eat this ;D Dont forget baked beans on toast! boring, but if all else fails...... Dont despair! There are loads of things for you to eat. Just do a little bit of research. I guarantee you, you will never, ever go hungry!! Good luck and keep posting!
