they can let you down badly ! after many mistakes made by the receptionist, we had to wait over 16 hours for an officer to come and collect a baby bird we had found outsede our door. the bird was only hours old, straight out of the egg ! it had no feathers or eyes showing. yet it was strong , tweeting and survived in our not so experienced hands for almost 17 hours. we kept it as warm as we could. when the officer finally got here the next day (and that was only cos we phoned them again) the first call didnt get through to a collector. anyway when he got here the bird (i called Tweety) was on his back and hardly making a sound. he died on the way to the hospital so my advice is phone a local sanctuary, they are more likely to come out in time.

I take injured birds myself to a local sanctuary. They're wonderful and you can contact them to see how your bird's doing. I don't like the RSPCA. I've heard lots of bad things about them and they usually put injured birds and small animals to sleep

I think they're obviously pushed for time/money and couldn't possibly react to every single call. Saying that, it's obviously really sad, but I still think they do more good than harm and that should be encouraged.

have you seen their office building ? its very plush, must have cost a packet.
my advice dont leave them in your will, plenty of other deserving charities that really do their very best for animals and birds.
