Wondering if vegans have any problems with joints and getting aches and pains. This year I seem to be aching a lot more than I used to - at the start of the year it was my shoulder, then in April my ankle starting aching for no apparent reason, and over the last week or two the top of one of my leg has been aching. Maybe I'm just overexerting myself - I've been travelling a bit - but also wondering if other vegans have had any joint problems or aches. Could be it be a lack of calcium or anything like that? I do drink quite a bit of soya milkshake with fortified calcium and once in a while take a multivitamin (although not too often).

Can't say I've noticed anything ongoing myself. I did have a knee problem a couple of years ago but I took some ibuprofen for a couple of days and it went away. I suppose there are the calcium issues but I think there's also an issue with the types of fat and oils we eat that can affect how well your joints work. I'm not really that knowledgeable about this but I think its omega 3 and 6 oils which are often found in seeds. I just discovered 'Good Seed' which are toasted hemp seeds and are great to snack on. Of course the other thing is, none of us are getting any younger...

I get randomly aching joints too. I find vegan glucosamine helps, as long as I remember to take it regularly.
