Today I half-heartedly scanned the ingredients list of a pack of Mr Kipling jam tarts, expecting to find the usually allergy advice - contains egg, milk blah blah.... I was pleasantly surprised to find no such thing. Mr Kipling jam tarts are now vegan yay!!

I saw these in Sainsburys today, the FreeFrom range does lots of vegan labelled junk food stuff, but what annoys me massively is that they all contain Palm Oil , and until I am able to get it confirmed from Sainsburys that they get their palm oil from sustainable sources rather than freshly cut down rainforests all the time to make way for palm oil growing, I will not buy anything that I know has palm oil in them.

Yeah I think they were some years ago, then they started putting milk in them but now they've stopped again.

i have just had an email back about mr Kipling jam tarts, sorry to let you all know but they are not vegan but they do make one cake for us. here is a copy of the email.
Unfortunately, there is not a lot and the only brand we do make them for is Lyons. These are as follows: Lyons: Treacle Lattice Tart 6 Treacle Tarts None of our Cadbury or Mr Kipling range are suitable. I have forwarded the details of your e-mail to my colleagues in the Marketing Department so they are aware of your interest and this will be noted when our ranges are reviewed. Thank you for taking the time to contact us Yours sincerely Kevin Moseley Customer Care Manager Mr Kipling Cakes

Probably a good thing, really, as I eat far too many cakes already! Mrs Pob does make exceedingly good cakes! And they're vegan, and nasty-fat free! I wonder what unlisted ingredient there is in them that makes them non-vegan, though

I wonder what unlisted ingredient there is in them that makes them non-vegan, though Me too, why can't they just say why they're not vegan? Grrrr if it wasn't for stupid omnis life would be so much easier to deal with
