Hi everyone
This is my first time on this forum - hi.
If you are members of the Vegan Society I expect you have recieved your voting stuff from them and another letter from other members saying things are not so good with the Society.
Does anyone have more information on this? I recognise a few of the names on the letter.

Hello,
Yes, i'll be going along to the AGM, the food looks like it'll be great. I've also posted off my election slip today, i just hope that the Vegan Society can become a bit more progressive and outgoing. Plus it could well do with the website, finally, after about two and a bit years of me and probably other people asking, to being properly updated to a much higher quality format, they do have the money, and it is such an important way to interact with people these days. I find it unusual that many of the existing Council Members don't see it that way, and would like to see the people advocating for change to get in and have a go.
With regards,
Kev

Can any one tell anything more about the backers of the seperate letter. As I said I know a few, more know of rather than like friends, but are these the good guys?

Well i think it's important to read through the document and read the election statements and then decide for yourself, it's unfortunate that we don't know more about The Vegan Society but there is a fair chance this may change if some different candidates get elected this year.

I agree Kevster. I read through the whole doc and gradually realised how little I really knew about the society. They seem to focus on some areas so much and others so little.
The special and ordinary proposals look interesting too. There seems to be a collective growing for the society to be so much more open, accountable and dynamic.

I was following a long thread of the Vegan Forum about the elections and motions. It got very heated yesterday when the manager of the Vegan Society posted a page of rants which including various personnel attacks on ex-staff members and other stuff. At no time did he claim anything in the letter was untrue so Im inclined to believe the letter was written in good faith. Today that thread has gone with the moderator saying there was libellous stuff posted.

I too am attending the AGM and I am the proposer of one of the special resolutions. Unfortunately there does seem to be a certain amount of murk going on at the moment, and there's a bit more commentary here that you might be interested in looking at, if you haven't seen it already. I've worked in voluntary sector organisations before and its not unusual to see internal strife, sadly. There's always two sides as well. Its especially unfortunate as you often seem to get two groups of very dedicated people acting against each other. As I understand it, the written documents that were sent out were meant for members of the Vegan Society only so can people refrain from quoting from them in public. Obviously we can discuss anything thats already public but I also ask that people are very careful about any personal comments they make about individuals as we're not that keen on hearing from m'learned friends. Oh yeah, and I recommend all Vegan Society members attend the AGM and do the voting thang.
