Theres a thread about it on VF. Apparantly right now the monks have set up their alter in front of Shambos pen and to disturb the alter would be desecration. Yay for the monks

Well he's tested positive for bovine TB but thats not always conclusive and may just mean he's come into contact with an affected animal.

It's common practice to destroy animals that have given a positive. It happens every day on farms. It's to prevent an epidemic which would be fatal for many animals and possibly humans. It's not a nice thing but what is the alternative?

Well thats obviously why they're after him. The monks' argument is that he's essential to their religious practice and is not in contact with other animals so shouldn't spread the disease. They've also said they're prepared to pay for him to be treated with drugs.
They still haven't got to him by the way.

I remember reading that the test used to determine TB was inaccurate.

Apparently the police have gone in now and are forcibly removing people. Bizarrely, there's a live blog on the situation on the Guardian. Again, complete with compassion free comments. tinyurl.com/2cz54h

From what I remember maisie they're not the most reliable test unfortunately.
Does anyone know if this is the strain that can be transmitted to humans?

Apparently there has been one known case of transfer of bTB to humans.
Anyway, they've got him now.

I can't understand why someone didn't do a blood test to determine if he really had it or not? Surely someone could have done it privately for them?
