Day of Action for Primates: November 18th
Around 10,000 non-human primates are used in experiments across Europe each year, with more than a third of them undergoing ‘procedures’ in British laboratories. Now, the European Union Directive that governs all animal experiments is being revised. Sadly, Directive 86/609 does not offer any possibility of a total ban on the use of all animals but it does present an opportunity to end the use of non-human primates.
And you can help free monkeys from labs!
Animal Aid has called a Day of Action for Primates on November 18th, which will see people across the country setting up street stalls to gather signatures on petitions and postcards, and to reveal the truth about primate experimentation.
So far, we have stalls confirmed in dozens of places from Argyll to Aberystwyth and from East Anglia to Exeter but we need to reach as many people as possible. Can you set up a stall in your local town?
If you can spare a couple of hours (or more) and you want to take an active part in this campaign, Animal Aid will send you leaflets, petitions, postcards, reports and posters, and can offer advice for people who have never done a street stall before.
If you would prefer simply to collect signatures from family, friends and colleagues, then get in touch and order postcards and petitions.
Email kate@animalaid.co.uk for more information or advice, or to order your resources.
