Hi have just had this message from another vegan group whos mailing list im on: Hillfield Animal Sanctuary near Bromsgrove are holding an open day this Sunday, 13 August from 12 noon - 4pm. This is a great opportunity to see hundreds of rescued animals, now living a happy lifein relative freedom. There will also be many stalls offering all kinds of cruelty free goodies - cakes, plants, books, vegan burgers and other refreshments, games tombola, raffle and lots more... Red Kite Health Foods of Bromsgrove will have a stall selling many of their organic, veggie/vegan products. RVV will also hold a stall, providing a range of informative literature to help persuade the general public that changing their diet is the best way to help stop animal suffering, stop environmental destruction, stop world hunger and improve their health all in one go!! The idea of the event is of course to raise much needed funds to pay for the animals feed, vets bills, shelter etc. If you can provide any sort of attraction to help pull in the crowds, please call Lyn on 0121 445 3828. Hillfield Sanctuary can be found on Greenhill, Blackwell, near Bromsgrove (just off Jct 1 of M42).See map here www.hillfields-sanctuary.co.uk Its in the country so if my mum wants to go Il be able to make it, otherwise not as i dont drive but it sounds a great day out! Well we went to support this, but afraid the weather had put a lot off. Only a few stalls and no cake we took a big box of items for them to sell - gift sets, pottery, brick a brack stuff. Got a vegan cook book for my aunt as she loves cooking and its full of nutroasts that are her speciality. Alison

Hello fellow vegans! Just thought I'd join you to say thank you for supporting the Open Day in this thread - and a huge thanks to those who braved that hideous weather! Thankfully though, it did clear up later, and our stall (the animal adoptions stall) got quite busy, with a great deal of interest in the adoptions! YAY!
Sadly, as far as cake is concerned, I too was disappointed - last year I couldn't stay out of the cake tent! The good news is, further to the unexpected success of today's event, despite the fact that everything seemed to be against us, we are now looking to hold another, bigger (and much better advertised) Open Day in a few weeks time (before it gets too cold!) - and you can bet I will be asking about getting a cake stall in!
Thank you again folks!

Thats great Globbitz,
Must admit i never knew there was a sanctuary there! and I only live 6 or so miles away in Hagley (but dont drive so struggle to get there unless my mum will go to!)
Can you post on here when there is another event - will try to get there then. Hope the items we dropped off (gift sets, pottery) will be able to be kept and sold at the next event.
Yes vegan cake always tempts people in! I bet Redditch veggies/vegans would help out there too!
If I could find a way over id be happy to help out on a stall for the day, but public transport on a Sun is is nil by us in the Bromsgrove direction im afraid.
