Hi All,
Please see below message from SPEAK.
Please try to go along and give your support..............
Nowhere to Hide Demo!
Saturday the 3rd June will be an important day in the fight to stop Oxford University building its animal torture Lab. A demonstration has been arranged for that day but for logistical reasons we are unable to announce the place until the evening of Tuesday 30th May. Please be aware this will not be a mobile demo. Watch out for updates on this day.
Now more than ever it is vital that we keep up the pressure on Oxford University and all those collaborating with the university in its attempts to build yet another centre of animal abuse and a monument to a flawed scientific practice.
At the moment there is a deliberate attempt to demonise the animal rights movement. However now is not the time to run and hide, but to come out fighting. SPEAK will be going on the offensive on the 3rd June. We need your support and, more importantly, the animals destined to be tortured and killed inside the new laboratory, should it ever be completed, need you NOW more than ever.
There can be little doubt that the vivisection industry is in trouble. Despite the best attempts at legitimacy by the unholy alliance made up of the Prime Minister Tony Blair, manipulated by Lord Sainsbury - their strings being pulled by the massive pharmaceutical companies and their false message being peddled by some in the media - the British public are seeing through the lies!
We must expect more attacks from those seeking to maintain their privileged positions. SPEAK welcomes the unprecedented attention. It makes us even more determined to finish the job we started over 2 years ago and, more importantly, it makes us stronger as we know the animal abusers are desperate and beginning to panic. With your help we can finally finish off the fraudsters working inside the animal research industry.
Please organise your transport now, we are aware that we are not giving you a lot of time by announcing the place of the demonstration just 4 days before the demo but for tactical reasons it is necessary.
Make a real difference and join us on the 3rd June and together we can win this important battle.

Hi Tabitha... A mobile demonstration is where instead of a group/crowd of you turning up to protest and standing there and protesting with plaquards etc until the police turn up and move you on, you would turn up in a car get out and make as much noise as possible B4 the police turn up and then drive on to the next place to protest. It is a way of getting around and making your point at several different places in a day. Hope that answers your question Tommy Steele sang The Little White Bull didn't he?

I'd like to be there but can't. Good luck.
I heard some idiot on the radio this morning. The professor of physiology there. He said that his lecture was interrupted by noise from protestors a few days ago. Poor chap. He also said that the lab animals feel no pain. What a lying idiot he is.
This was on at 7 this morning so not many people will have heard his lies.

They believe that the animals feel no pain because they don't open their eyes to it, they are all just ignorant C**ts. All they are interested in is the money side of things!! It makes me feel sick I am sure it would be a different matter if we stuck a few human beings in cages, pulled them out at various intervals stuck scapels, needles, drugs, observed them for a while to see how they reacted, or if they lived or died, there would be an uproar!! Look what happened to those guys that volunteered for drug testing a while ago!! How they can live with themselves when they get home I just don't know. I wonder what they tell their kids when they ask what they did at work that day. Hope your cat is ok Tabitha !!

All for your information if going on Saturday!! Nowhere to Hide Demo! Saturday 3rd June Meet: Moreton-in-Marsh, Railway Station, 12 noon Map: www.speakcampaigns.org.uk/maps/TheFireServiceCollegeMoreton.pdfWorkers building the new animal torture centre are transported to and from work in a convoy of mini buses. Up until now the precise location of where the workers are being housed has been a carefully guarded secret. SPEAK can now expose the exact location of where the workers are being accommodated - The Fire Service College at Moreton-in-Marsh, Glos. Each day the workers, who are helping to build the new lab, are ferried back to their accommodation to enjoy the facilities, where according to the Colleges website they are "Spoilt for choice", with, bars, restaurants and a leisure centre. At the end of a day after building a monument to cruelty and a fraudulent scientific practice, they are able to relax and enjoy themselves - accommodation comprises of en-suite facilities, colour TV's and tea and coffee making facilities. Do they give a moment’s thought for the animals that will die in their thousands, imprisoned in tiny cages? Alone they will suffer: in fear they will die – do they care? Of course not; they are on triple wages. Why should they give a moment to think about the sentient creatures destined to die inside a facility they are building? The College is situated approximately 25 miles from Oxford and, interestingly, the College is under the direct control of the office of the deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott. Let’s not forget Mr. Prescott's role in the plans for the building of Europe’s largest primate research lab in Cambridge: despite objections from the Police, the City council and against the recommendations of a planning inspector appointed by Mr. Prescott himself, he ran roughshod over the democratic process and forced through the planning approval for the build. However, Cambridge University were forced to abandon their plans to build a new lab, despite the support of the Labour Government, due to pressure brought to bear on them by the animal rights movement. A similar situation exists this time, despite overwhelming odds against us; we now have it within our power to finally bring a halt to Oxford University's building project once and for all. Please join us on the 3rd June. The fact that SPEAK has managed to identify the precise location of where the workers are being housed will come as a major blow to the whole building project. The plans by the university to keep secret the workers location has been foiled, such news will come as a shock to the university. Once again we have the university on the run - now is the time press home our advantage. Now it’s time to mobilise our resources and bring to an end once and for all, the plans by Oxford University to expand its animal abuse facilities. Together we are an unstoppable force - together we will win. Join us on the 3rd June and help us defeat the forces of greed and self interest and let’s make sure vivisection is consigned to the history books where it belongs. www.speakcampaigns.org.uk

MORE HORRORS AT OXFORD UNIVERSITY
Since SPEAK has managed to expose the tragic life of George more information is coming to light of the horrors being perpetrated against primates at Oxford University. SPEAK, in detailing the violence inflicted on George, appears to have hit a nerve with some people and more information is now coming in relating to the work carried out by the same Professor on other primates.
This time the leaked information has come from a source within the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The CPS were the organisation responsible for not prosecuting the leading Oxford University vivisector in November 2004 for cruelty to a monkey he was experimenting on - the same professor was also responsible for abusing George.
SPEAK has now been informed by our source within the CPS that the whole investigation by Thames Valley Police and the subsequent failure of the CPS to bring a prosecution was nothing more than an elaborate cover up from the moment Thames Valley Police investigated the incident to the inaction of the CPS. A deliberate attempt was made by all investigating bodies to hide the facts. We have been told that Senior Oxford University officials used their influence with both Thames Valley Police and the CPS to thwart any prosecution because of the damage it would cause to the university.
SPEAK has previously highlighted the investigation of the leading professor at Oxford University. For legal reasons we are unable to name the professor who has been abusing animals for the past 30 years inside Oxford University's torture chambers. Our source at the CPS has informed us that the primate at the centre of the police investigation was called 'JEZ'. Our original article in 2004 detailing the abuse highlighted that: "The monkey was suffering from a brain infection caused by electrodes being inserted into its brain, through a chamber in its head cap. The vets tried to treat the monkey but it was in too much pain and couldn't be helped." It goes on to describe how "the home office inspector demanded that the monkey be put down" but the professor "argued and refused" however "eventually he backed down but only after the monkey had suffered for a long time."
However 'JEZ' is not the only monkey to have suffered a similar experience at the hands of someone who can only be described as a monster. Papers relating to the case described how another monkey, who was named 'BJee’, was kept for research for approx 4 years. This animal suffered constantly from a most aggressive infection around the head cap and also an infection to the eye. 'BJee' was allowed to suffer for years before finally being put out of its misery because of pressure from the Home Office.
However, what is even more disturbing is the fact that BJee, JEZ, and George are not isolated incidents, but are just a few examples amongst many of the abuse taking place behind the closed doors of the university's labs. It now appears that Oxford University, with the backing of the Labour Government have become a law unto themselves and the university now believe they are untouchable.
One thing is becoming very clear: whatever information we are receiving via compassionate people from both within the university and other organisations: it’s information that details but a fraction of the atrocities being committed inside Oxford University. One other thing is also certain: if the animal rights movement doesn’t stop the abuse towards sentient creatures, then the non human animals inside the university are at the mercy of the vivisectors who are devoid of any compassion towards their VICTIMS. If we don’t stop it, no one will. The animals have no one but us!
Please don’t forget the thousands of animals suffering at this very moment inside Oxford University. They need you. SPEAK needs your help. Help us defeat the animal abusers inside Oxford University. Together we can win. We defeated Cambridge University and with action we can defeat Oxford University.
Join us in Oxford on the 22nd July and let’s together remember all those so cruelly treated by Oxford University. Don’t forget George, Jez and BJee!
Meet: Carfax Tower, Oxford City centre, 12 noon, 22nd July

Don’t forget George, Jez and BJee! -------------------------------------- www.animalaid.org.uk/ Tuesday 11th July SPEAKING OUT FOR ANIMALS Meet at the Carfax Tower, Oxford at noon on Saturday 22nd July. For further details, visit SPEAK's website On Saturday 22nd July, there will be a day of remembrance for George. He was just one of many macaques who have suffered appallingly during brain and other experiments at the Department of Experimental Psychology at Oxford University. George is said to have been taken from the wild, before being blinded by his captors, and dying alone, imprisoned in a small, barren cage. Oxford University is currently constructing a new animal testing facility where many more animals like George will suffer and die. The stated objective is to seek answers to the problems of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes. 'Animal models' of these and other human diseases will be used - a methodology that is now increasingly regarded as outdated, even within the research community. While the British Government has pledged to support the Oxford laboratory using taxpayer's money, the European Commission has stated that no money from the EU will be forthcoming. Although they do not support the abolition of animal experiments, the EU remains committed to the 3Rs - reduction, refinement and replacement of animals in experiments - and this commitment led to their decision. The Labour Government, on the other hand, appears to have forgotten their pre-election commitment to reducing animal experiments and now backs vivisectors at every opportunity. It was even revealed recently that it accepts commissions from overseas to conduct weapons tests on animals at Porton Down. Read more... The Oxford demonstration on July 22nd is a chance to remind the public that the millions of animals killed in laboratories every year are individuals and that they, like George, suffered appallingly at the hands of vivisectors. We don't need an increase in animal testing - we need to get rid of it, and replace it with progressive and effective science: species-specific research, which relies on human data instead of animal data. Please support the SPEAK campaign and attend this vital demonstration.

another latest update from SPEAK : Remembering George, Jez and BJee - Contact the Funders SPEAK have in the past highlighted the companies below because they have either donated money to Oxford University or have helped fund the university in other ways. Now more than ever it's vital that these companies are contacted and informed of exactly what is taking place at an institution they are helping to finance. SPEAK belives that these companies have a right to know exactly what type of atrocities are taking place behind the closed doors of the universities laboratories. Vivisection is allowed to continue because of the lies told by those involved in the systematic abuse of sentient creatures. If the research laboratories had glass walls, then vivisection would end tomorrow. However, a cloud of secrecy surrounds vivisection establishments and it's up to all of us to be the eyes that expose to the world the abuse, the torture and the murder of animals taking place inside such institutions like Oxford and the mentality of those doing the abusing. Over the past two weeks SPEAK has managed to highlight the terrible plight and unimaginable horrors inflicted on 3 monkeys at Oxford University. Please inform the following companies of the sad lives of George, Jez and BJee, three monkeys kidnapped from the wild and tortured at Oxford University. Saturday the 22nd July will be a day for us all to remember the suffering endured by George, Jez and BJee, 3 indivuiduals that symbolise the suffering endured by 1000's of monkeys imprisoned in research labs around the world. No matter where you are in the world you can remember these 3 creatures whose lives were so cruelly ended and you can play your part in stopping the building of the Oxford University animal research lab by contacting these companies. If Oxford are allowed to complete the lab there will be many more George's, Jez's and BJee's - we owe it to their memory to fight Oxford University and more importantly to defeat them. Please remember to be polite and courteous in your communications. Most of the companies listed do not finance vivisection. But we at SPEAK believe that these companies have a right to know how their money is being spent. Oxford University and other vivisecting institutions may wish such information to be withheld from those that have a right to know, but we firmly believe that the dissemination of information is part of the democratic process, which enables people to make an informed decision about what they do and do not wish to support. Providing the funders with this information gives them the opportunity to make that choice. Names of companies are listed in alphabetical order and are broken down into the following groups to make contacting them easier to handle.
