I went to a Japanese restaurant for lunch today (co-worker's birthday) and I got veggies and rice. There were Spring Rolls for appetizers and I know that not every place is the same - some have meat in them. Well dumb*ss me decides to have a bite of one without asking first and lo and behold - meat. Why don't I remember to ask first? Why does it not cross my mind when I am out at restaurants? I read labels at the store, ask when at other people's homes, but become some kind of imbecile as soon as I step foot into a restaurant. I'm so mad at myself.

Have just seen a horiffic video over at another vegan messageboard where someone has filmed themselves draining a tiny bowl with a poor goldfish in with water, then letting him flounder and putting him in a carbonated drink to completely kill him and deprive him of oxygen, then refilling the bowl with water, and giving him a jolt with a 9v battery to bring him back to life.
Made me feel sick. To think that people do that for entertainment. No wonder I don't like many omni humans anymore.

No wonder I don't like many omni humans anymore. Aaahh now tiggs I know plenty of omnis but none who'd resort to doing something like that for entertainment.

Tiggs and Lavender why would you watch it? Watching it serves no purpose and just causes distress to you

I would have just stopped it as soon as I realised it was animal cruelty. I don't normally watch such videos but I did watch some at this years AR Gathering and ended up having a nightmare about kittens being drowned. I've watched Meat Your Meat as I have it on my Myspace page so I thought I should watch it but I'm never going to watch any more, I don't see the point.

maisie, i have heard many times about the meet your meat video, but have never watched it. So when i just read that you had it on your myspace i thought i would watch it. i am not easily disturbed, i can say that is the most distressing thing i have ever seen, i couldn't actually bring myself to watch it all. it just has made me really f*cking angry i want to email it to every non-vegan i know

Tiggs and Lavender why would you watch it? Watching it serves no purpose and just causes distress to you I think I watched it out of shocked disbelief that anyone could do such a thing, trying to convince myself it was a prank. Wish I hadn't though.

I'd like to tie meat eaters to a chair and force them to watch it, like they did in that film Clockwork Orange.

I've watched Meat Your Meat as I have it on my Myspace page so I thought I should watch it but I'm never going to watch any more, I don't see the point. Sorry I dont agree. There is a big difference between watching AR type videos and watching this sort of footage. The point for me, at least, is that unless you watch the footage that is being distributed then how can you complain/campaign against it? its very different to bringing any sort of human abuse to light with the authorities (before anyone brings up the point of not having to watch any footage of human abuse to campaign against it) its a world apart from getting action on animal abuse footage . - If you are a person that takes time to write/email then you need to know the content - just saying Dear blah de blah I received a link to some footage hosted by your company which I found particularly disturbing etc etc. I havent actually seen it. but Ive heard about it. without ever seeing what it was doesnt make sense to me. If I need to take things further I need to know what Im complaining about for me to look credible. Ive unfortunately seen lots of awful things done to greyhounds that I wish I hadnt , not because of me and how it effects me personally, but because of the horrific pain and mental torture the pitiful dog has had to endure, I dont think of me in it at all - I think of the creature thats been the target. Animal abuse is swept under the carpet, or seen as entertainment in this particular instance, it takes a lot of people to stand up and say No, the more this footage is seen and complained about, the more the likely hood of that No being heard. Its just my opinion of course.
