Do the anti-phishing filters definitely stop it?

never heared of that, where do i find it ?! Basically this is phishing via myspace. If you use Firefox you can install the Netcraft anti-phishing toolbar free, and also free is the McAfee site advisor for Firefox. IE explorer 7 has an anti-phishing feature built in, BUT check to see that it is enabled - some find it is disabled until you activate it!

Pob, AFAIK the anti-phishing filters just warn you off known bad sites, but you still have to use common sense because they don't know about the new ones that are springing up all the time. Wabbit, you can get the toolbar here toolbar.netcraft.com/

Hi Wabbit, the toolbar can't be added to IE but if you have IE 7 it has anti-phishing built in, if you still have IE7 you probably do not have automatic updates from Microsoft enabled and you are taking a silly risk. Frankly Firefox is SO much better than IE, and it is free, and you can add on so much cool stuff. And it's safer than IE. www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/And their Thunderbird email program is better than outlook. And free.

Wabbit, look at the menu at the top of IE and click on Help, then you'll see About Internet Explorer. Click on that and it tells you what version you have.
Definitely install IE 7, it is safer than IE 6.

To get automatic updates, just look at the menu at the top of IE. click on Tools and you should see a number of choices. Click on Windows Update, that should take you to Microsoft site and show you which windows updates you already have and which you need.
You should set your computer to update automatically, some of the updates are essential for security.

What? No taskbar, menus or icons at top of IE ? Probably if you right click you can show them, you don't know what you're missing.

Just be really certain to enable automatic updates, otherwise some spyware will update it for you!
