It has to be Tom Baker, as I always considered it to be a children's show. I was a wee nipper when he was on.
Actually are you a mind reader? Because I just watched the pilot with Mr Hartnell yesterday.
It was interesting, he was a lot more alien than David Tennant. Almost as if the Doctor has become more human the longer time he has spent with them.

I grew up with Tom Baker.
Peter Davidson just had shit story lines at the start. What was the deal with him being weak after regeneration, and having to be put in a box cos they ejected the recuperation room. FFS. He did get better. It was downhill all the way afterwards though. Although the new series is good.
Babylon 5 obviously pisses all over Dr Who, though.....

Erm, that'll be the Zero room rather than the 'recuperation' room Yes, PD did have some iffy stories at first but they got better. It was Colin Baker who got really crap stories despite being a good Doctor imho. Sylvester McCoy got either very good stories or dreadful ones, but managed to be a bit crap in all of them ;D My fave is close between Hartnell and Pertwee, but as I grew up with Pertwee I voted for Hartnell cos he doesn't get the unfair advantage LOL

When I was a little girl, I used to think the darleks would come out the tv and exterminate me and whenever my mum watched it I used to hide behind the sofa with my eyes closed and putting my fingers in my ears so not to hear it.
Never been able to watch it since!

Yeah the Daleks actually used to be scary. They are overused so much, they are merely a curiosity now.

Then again, the intended audience probably finds them scary.
Doh, thinking about myself again lol

Thats exactly it Blueshark - I do rather like the new series, but my Sons absolutely love it!
my 9 year old Son's face when the Daleks battled the cybermen was a picture! his eyes were on stalks , and he does hide his eyes at times - thats what it was all about when I was a kid, even the music at the start used to get your heart racing ;D
