I found this site by clicking on one of the ads at the top of the page fatloss4idiots.com/ It sounds like it would work and is only $27. I can't see any way of contacting them though to ask if its compatible with a vegan diet. Basically the idea is that you lose weight by changing the way you eat every few days and tricking your metabolism into burning fat. Anyone know anything about this diet or if there's any free info anywhere?

No it doesn't look vegan friendly does it I've just bought these herbal tablets from ebay but I'll also try to find more info about this idiot proof diet.

I have just emailed the lady with the blog to ask if there are many vegan options with this diet. I'll let you know her reply.

I got a reply. This is what she said
No soy products are on the choices, but I don't know why they could not be substituted. You might get pretty bored, though. I eat eggs almost every morning on it (and I don't even like eggs in the AM) and fish twice a day some days - tuna for lunch and broiled flounder. If you do not choose those things, surely they substitute fruit and veggies or something. I don't know. I'm sure soya milk would substitute OK. If you decide to try it, and you like tofu. Then I would suggest doing two different menus. The first one with no fish, etc. and see what they put of the other things you picked in it's place. The second menu, add a couple of fish, and then eat tofu in it's place. I'm sorry I am of little help on this. I hope I sort of answered your questions. humpty
I dunno Lavender do you think it would work to substite tofu for fish? Or maybe choose meat and substitute tofu as they're both high protein? I'm sure that would work.

I cant find anywhere to contact them and ask though.

I blame my weight gain on my overactive glands !
my overactive greedy gland. ;D
Im going to start the scottish slimmers today - now that the idiots one doesnt look that promising. Ive done it before as a vegetarian years ago - It would be quite simple I reckon to transfer over to vegan. I know they have changed the system in recent years, but I have all the books still so would prefer to do it the old way where you have a breakfast, a light meal, and a main meal and then 5 extras a day.
so a example would be..
breakfast...
1oz breakfast cereal with soya milk
lunch..
bagel 6 !!! if you can eat them cheatin slices salad
dinner
sausage & warmer
1/2 veggie stock cube 2 tsbsp tomator puree pinch herbs garlic glove 1/2 pint water
bring to boil
add 300g tin of mixed beans 1/2 onion carrot and some mushroom slices a large or two small vegan sausages cut into slices
simmer for 1/2 an hour then serve with green veggies.
Veg is free there are long lists of veg/salad
extras are things like
quarter slice of melon = 1
couscous salad - 10z couscous in 1/2 cup boiling water leave to stand. add 1 small yellow pepper, 1 tom, a piece of cucumber add 1tsp dressing and mix = 1 extra
2 apples = 1 extra
beans tend not to be 'free'
3 digestives = 2 extras
just as a random menu for a day. They do say to save one extra as your milk allowance for tea/coffee.

I'm weary of any kind of diet plan or pill, tea, fad, etc. And I have been a chunker all my life. I just don't believe in them. They may work at first, but it all comes crashing back down. I have a friend who does one after another. She has gotten nowhere. I think it's all a matter of changing your eating habits for the better and incorporating exercise. Not like I'm a perfect example of this. There are exceptions to every rule though... Sorry, don't mean to come in here and be all negative and rain on this thread... *exits quietly*

I'll try anything, I'm getting desperate now Those herbal tablets and tea are meant to supress you're appetite and make you crave good things instead of bad. The guy selling them has lots of good feedback and as they are made from 100% herbs I'm sure they won't be harmful. That diet sounds reasonable Lavender. I will need to follow a plan as well.

nah you are right of course - but some people do need a kick start every now and again - I know for sure I like my food way too much, I enjoy baking for the family , food for us is a very social, tactile thing, we love sharing food etc, plonking a big bowl down with some bread etc. We tend to have our main family conversations around the dining table. For us eating together is a big part of our day. A catch up and time to chat or moan etc.
I dont know about Maisie but for me I sometimes need the regime of a set 'plan' to reel me back in LOL as I say I love my food way to much! ;D

I have a friend who recently lost a lot of weight at Weight Watchers - they have a very vegan friendly 'no count' diet where you just eat unlimited amounts of certain foods and have a treat allowance too. I find the best way to lose weight is to start keeping a diary and list all the foods you eat in a day, along with the calorie content. That way you can review what you've eaten and see ways to cut down. It's tough, and you have to be in the right frame of mind, but it's great when you see the scales going down

I didn't know Weight Watchers was vegan friendly. Would all Weight Watchers be the same Purity do you know? At the moment I'm trying to keep the same eating habits from the festival weekend where I didn't have time to eat a lot but drank loads of water. I think I have lost weight as my belt feels loser

Hmm, I don't think I should keep my eating habits from the festival weekend . I drank lots of beer and ate loads of chips and curry ;D. I did do quite a lot of walking though.
