I came back earlier and Spidey had gone . But he's come back now so had obviously just gone walkabout. By the way, anyone who's thinking of buying a Canon 350 D, which I think is the one you've mentioned Feral, bear in mind that its replacement has just been announced, the 400D. This could mean that there will be bargain 350Ds about or of course you might want to get the updated new one.

Cheers veggie, I've seen the 350 D for £444 which is sweet for such a nice camera... I'll have to order it soon for taking it to the lakes. The girl who organises the meets is a professional band photographer and it's her weapon of choice so she'll be able to show me how to use it cos I is a lazy bastid

Does anybody know whether flash is bad for animals or insects or other critters? I though I'd ask here first before going to the photography sites.
Prob is that with macro shots its rare to be able to get enough light in the lens cos you're so close up, it seems a particular prob with mine anyway. But I don't want to harm anything for obvious reasons. I always use the lowest setting anyway but its still pretty bright.
Have to say it doesn't seem to have done my spider any harm, he's going from strength to strngth!

i know when photos of battery hens are photographed, the flash is pointed up to the roof, or and a red filter is placed over it as well, that was before digital cameras,
i cant remeber why if its because its dark in the sheds at night and the sudden bright light would distuber the hens, ( i know it would but ) or some other reason.

Hens react to light - as soon as its light they get noisy, its to keep the noise to a minimum and not to distub them. The ex battery hens we had the minute the saw a chink of light that was it.

To celebrate my new faster working pooter I made this. There's 3 layers of processing in it and it took about a quarter of the time it used to.

Its Ladybower Reservoir in the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire, not far from Edale. That thing in the foreground is the overflow, basically a giant plughole!

This one's the little chapel in Buttermere, Lake District. The sky isn't the original, I nicked that from another photo.

I've had another 39 people look at my website since the above post There's a rather annoyingly intermittent thunderstorm going on. One of my photographic ambitions is to catch lightening, unfortunately the silly stuff is somewhat unpredictable.

Woo hoo! My new lens has turned up at long last. Lots of nice new wide angle landscapes for menow, and I'm off to Lyme Regis next week to take piccies with it.
Also I've had over 400 people visit my website, that works out to about 5 people per day on average.
