Good idea. And good luck. I am rather bushed after finishing in 2 hours and 32 minutes. My second best time.
You'll need to do some hard training. And you'll have to be careful you don't hurt your knees. All that running on hard surfaces is not good for the knees.

And you got all that way home in such a quick time too...... Did you fly? ;D Seriously though, thanks for the advice. Will be starting off slowly and pacing myself out. Have found a really good programme to get 0-5k in 9 weeks so am starting with that and will do that about 4 times a week for now. Am hoping to dig my mountain bike out the shed and do some cycling tomorrow, if I get up early enough before work.

Oh and for anyone wondering why their post on this forum says I edited it, please don't take offense.
Tabi mentioned earlier in the post shecouldn't change the typo on the title, so corrected it for her on all the posts, so that's all I've done everyone.

[ Congratulations Gliondrach......... And you got all that way home in such a quick time too...... Did you fly? ;D quote] I don't actually go to London Town to run in the marathon. I watch it on telly but run on the spot at the same time. The people downstairs complain but I just ignore the banging on the ceiling.

lol yea nutters! I can just see you lot running the marathon, it'd be like Carry On does Noah's Ark! My poor hubby finished in just over 4hrs today in the Belfast Marathon, his wee knees were aching, having bandy legs didn't do him any favour, bless! It was the 25th anniversary of the Belfast Marathon and his first one, I even managed to get a photy of him near the finish line. A game panda did the full run for WWF and I spotted a badger too lol. Is it true that you have to raise £2000 for your charity to get entered in the London Marathon? Hubby fancied doing it some year but it'd be tricky tryin to raise that much wonga! If yea girls want to do the Belfast marathon I've got a spare room

Well done to Mr. Feral! My Dave was interested to hear about it. He says thats not true about the £2,000. Last year he ran for Guide Dogs for the Blind and Essex Wildlife Trust and he just gave them what he managed to raise (half and half I think). This year he didnt run for anyone, just did it for himself. Good job its not £2,000!! I would have to sell Tiggerwoos to raise that kind of money....put her on E bay most probably ;D

I think from looking at a few running forums recently that the £2000 is the minimum you have to raise if you have one of those guaranteed sponsored places from the registered charities that you have to buy off them.
Well done to Mr Feral.
I have a cunning plan....... Me finks we should get Mr Feral and Mr Tabi running together in one of the Marathon's next year seeing as their timing is only a one min difference!
Well done to Mr Feral anyway! Tabi, what do you reckon........... 2 marathons in one week??? Or is that pushing it just a little bit too much!?
For sale on Ebay......... Manky old vegan, 5ft8......... hmmmmmmmm now what else could I put??!!

Actually Dave would love to have someone to run with who is near his time. He is very competitive and might spur them both on to do it in under 4 hours. On the other hand they could both end up running too fast and collapsing after 10 miles. Would be nice to meet up though.
